Has Anyone Changed Their 5.0 Throttle Body ?

Why would they change it?

I'm interested in this as well. I know going to a BOSS 302 intake will help, but it helps higher in the RPM band. I'm curious if going to a larger TB will help, on the 5.4 3V it wouldn't help even slightly.

Apparently the stock one is 80 mm, which isn't bad. Ford elected to install the same one on the 435 hp mustang. Upgraded tb's aren't overly popular on the Mustangs, though, and I would say directionally less beneficial for us. However, ford decided 80 was too small for the 8200 rpm 526 hp gt350 and went up 87 mm. Speaking of, I understand you can install the 87 mm gt350 on the truck in the $200 range (bigger than bbk for cheaper).
When you're over 650 hp, huge gains can be had. The Whipple oval tb is advertised at 132 mm and gets you around 40 rwhp.
Ps: the mustang forums say you don't need a tune with these tb's.

On a stock 5.0 i doubt you will notice any change in the drivers seat dyno. Probley not worth it, imo.
It's too bad Ford does not offer a performance package for the f150 like they do for the mustang.

A mustang guy swapped the 5.0 intake and tb for the gt350 manifold and 87 mm tb. It gained 22 hp but most of the gains were an over 6500 rpm. Based on that, I don't think the tb is worth anything on the <5800 rpm truck motor.
I'm not a big believer that the flat plane crank was worth much. I think it was a combination of things. We know the manifold and tb was worth 22. The compression is worth about 20. Displacement was worth about another 20. That leaves about 30 from the porting, cam timing, and exhaust changes.
