Default Great Deal on Houston area Truck!

Obvious and unfortunate, buy there will soon be hundreds of deals on used trucks in Houston area.......or even transported out of state for sale.

Countless TV news footage of trucks plowing thru deep flood waters.

No doubt some unfortunate dealers have had their entire inventories flooded.....these will not end up on "the market" as used or as parts, right??

All in all a terrible and damaging event going on down there.

Yep, this is how low our society has become. Worried about truck deals when other lives and livelihoods are at stake. What a shame.

For .10 on a dollar, I would buy one of the new flooded trucks. I mean, if I can get a 64K truck for $6400, I would, then park it in the garage and completely strip it down, dry it all out, and as long as everything works afterwards, drive the crap out of it.

As long as it wasn't immersed in salt water, wont have much to worry about rusting.

Dealers are already in talks with Insurance companies and Ford to write off the losses. The federal government passed a law due to Katrina to avoid these cars being sold.

Depending on how deep the water was, there might be a new influx of instrument clusters with 8" screens.

In all seriousness, I really hope that everyone that stayed put is ok.

If the water gets up to the instrument panel, the insurance company will almost certainly declare the vehicle a total b/c they cannot guarantee the electronics are repaired properly. Those vehicles will have salvage titles.

When I watch the news about the hurricane and the devastation it caused I feel sorry for the people affected by the disaster. The last thing on my mind is an influx of cheap parts or flood vehicles that can be had for cheap.

I was on State Emergency Duty a few times over the years and met many families who lost everything, it is heartbreaking!

It may not be salt water but it's muddy and has sewage in it. You'd have to totally disassemble it and power wash the thing to get it clean.
I might think about it if I needed parts to replace something body wise on mine. Other than that, no thanks.

I think the law should be that any vehicle totaled from a flood is required to be destroyed by a crusher and documented with the DMV. Unfortunately, the insurance company will sell those cars to some crooked guy/gal who will transfer the title out of state before it is even branded.

I agree. This thread, while most likely tongue in cheek, is in very poor taste.
