Ford CS and folks here suggested updating Sync, so I did. Please educate me.
In addition to the ones tmcolegr posted, there's another for the 4 inch screens: SSM 46367 - but replacing the FCDIM did not fix mine. It's still doing it.

That is good news. I thought about taking in my old truck to them, but never did. For you info, the Sanderson Ford service is also class A. I purchased my old truck from Bell Ford, little did I know that their service dept really sucked. I started taking my old truck to Sandersons, because they actually listened to you and fixed the problems. So when it came time, I purchased my new 2018 from Sanderson's. The Lincoln Dealership is really close and I though about taking it in there, but since my old truck was a diesel, I figured there were no diesel Tech's working there.

PS: don't take your F150 to Bell ford, you won't be happy.

If update is available refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and update APIM software. After Installation Complete pop-up appears, remove USB flash drive and install into IDS tool to update Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes which is critical for a successful installation. If no updates are available or a blue or black screen is present after an update refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for diagnosis or SYNC 3 intermittent blank screen GSB for tips.

Some 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 version 2.2 software may exhibit a blank screen after attempting to exit Valet mode. SYNC software updates are now available under the OASIS Tab SYNC selection. If update is available, refer to WSM Section 415-00 and update APIM software.

Yeah, I remember you giving me that info same when I asked about my BSS. It took me a full day of fiddling with the truck, the Ford website, the usb drive, and Ford CS to get the update in and recognized by Ford. It finally worked. However when the above poster said the dealer came to take vehicle in to fix that problem, I kinda got worried.

Again, thanks.

I tell people to avoid Tri-County Ford in Buckner, Ky which is just NE of Louisville. With every vehicle sold, whether it's new or used, there's a $649 additional fee for paperwork and the salesman's commission. Most dealerships around here charge $200-250 so their $649 fee is way out of line. I got a great deal on my truck at Byerly Ford in Louisville and would highly recommend them....

Sadly revalidated today why I started this thread. Dropped my rig off TWELVE days ago, at the THIRD DC/NoVA dealer I’ve tried, for an oil change, recall, some rattles, and grinding/clicking in the steering wheel. The truck sat for a week before they even looked at it (I have a tracking device). Then they gave me the usual “no trouble found,” so I had to drive back to the dealer to demonstrate. Truck sat again, until I called again. Mind you they still haven’t changed the oil or done the recall. Truck is finally ready today, and all they have done is changed the oil. Want me to come back when they have a part for the recall, etc., and still insist the rattles are normal.

So I just got a 12 day oil change. Sweet! WTF. I love this truck but am considering lemon lawing it before too late, simply because every Ford dealer in my area is grossly incompetent.

Hixson Ford
Alexandria LA

Hard to beat around here and they are hands down better than the two local in town dealers.

The place I deal with I have been going to since 2001. They have always treated me well, up until 2015 when they changed management. The guy who was manager had gone to managing the area instead, and is actually one of the owners of the dealership. Been dealing with him personally since 2003. In 2015 when the management changed, so did the service. Reason being, the guy who was the service manager was promoted to GM. He had his hands full trying to fill the other guys shoes and the guy running the Service department couldn't take his place. For two years I stayed away, and I had written a scathing letter to them on how poorly they treated both me and my wife, especially when she had the passenger door lock fail to latch and was told they couldn't find any codes. I told them that spending nearly $400k with them over the years, I expected better service than this.

They fired the guy who was handling the service as I was not the only one who complained. They know that good service is what brings in customers and they are now back to having good service again.

During that 2 year hiatus, I had visited a dealer close to my work, and they were OK at first, but when I got the new truck and needed a vibration with the wheels corrected, I found they blatantly lied to me. I have the dash came, and it recorded the time when they test drove the truck, and it was well after their call to me that they looked at it and couldn't find the issue. They drove and parked it.

I happened to have a second set of wheels and tires and swapped the originals with them, then dropped them off at my dealer. They found a bad tire and replaced it. Even though the dealer close to work is convenient, I will never go back to a place that lied to me.

Here's the kicker, the guy who owns the dealership, who is now back running it, knows this other dealership as it is part of their group, and I passed on that they lied to me and got caught. I found out that the person who lied to me is no longer there.

I wish that were the case with the dealer that is only 7 miles from my home. Not only did they lie, but they charged me for an alternator test that should have been covered by the warranty when the vehicle had a bad battery and at the same time told me that my rear brakes were down to the last 20% of their life. I smelled things when I asked about the front and was told they were just fine - over 50% left. Two months later my service department of choice told me my brakes were just fine - all the way around.

I don't tell folks I dislike about that, but everyone else...

Long-Lewis Ford in Hoover Alabama is excellent. They offer no-haggle pricing which is pretty much down to the dollar of what you can price out on line. Helpful with financing. Make buying easy. Service is exceptional. Techs know what they are doing and salespeople are interested in making sure you are happy. No complaints.
