Is this a good deal trade 2015 for 2016?

Doesn't matter how much money you have, losing money is losing money.

Why are you wanting to get rid of your 2015? You're only gaining a few unnecessary features for a WHOLE lot of money. Unless your 2015 is just complete junk, I'd keep it. Use some of that money to make your XLT a little nicer. I bought a fully loaded (almost) XLT and now I'm saving to upgrade to Katzkin leather seats. Leather seats are really the only reason I'd want a Lariat, but it wasn't worth the extra $8k.

This is a reason I think the F-150 is so over priced, people are wiling to spend the money. I never heard of anyone trading an almost new vehicle, to get one with slightly different options, until I joined this forum. To me it says that you haven't done your research into what you want/need. I am spending about a year of researching, before I buy my first truck. Once I buy one, I will be off these forums, until something goes wrong. Seems like some build off each other to get the latest/great thing. A computer is one thing, but a $40-50k vehicle can be a bad thing. If you look at the used market, some of these trucks cost more used than new. That is the sole reason I am looking at new as after rebates you can end up better off than the used market.
It isn't a good deal as the dealer is getting you coming and going. Are you all set for retirement and do you have any debt? If you are set financially, then that much might be a drop in the bucket for you. If that is the case, then enjoy the truck, each to their own. I have bought many things that were financially stupid, though I could always afford it, when I did and usually got great enjoyment out of it. Though I could not swing what you are trying to do.

So he got no where with his payments made from his 2015? What's the difference as if he were to of leased it? Plenty of members on here lease.. lose all equity and move on to the next? He got a good deal on the lariat that he wanted.

I'm just looking out there. I really like the power roof and the push button start, the sync 3, leather, ambient lighting also. I don't know. It sounded like a lot to me but the truck stickered for 11k more than mine to start so to me it wasn't too bad. The depreciation on my truck I expected. So I assumed some where around 16 would be where it would make more sense. People on here post their deals and some seem to be too good to be true. How do they get the dealers down so low? Maybe they are looking for something less specific?

They are buying XLT's and have more rebates/incentives on those models. I also have a Lariat and love it. To take an XLT to a Lariat is not as easy as some are stating, yes you can add katskinz but you won't have the cooled seats. Factory LED headlights, taillights, ambient lighting, push start and intelligent access...not so easy to add these in the XLT.

Seems you have already talked yourself into this. Just go do it.

The price the dealer is selling the 16 Lariat isn't that bad of a price, considering what it comes with. I really can't say for the used market where you are, though trucks hold their value here. Some people have complained about the power roof. You could get much better quality leather installed for under $2,000. There are ambient lighting kits. I bet most wouldn't notice the difference between the Sync3 and the previous version. Now that I take a closer look at it, it isn't as bad as I initially thought, though did you ever stop to think what you could spend that money on?
