No you don't. Warranty starts at sale mileage.

No. Warranty doesn't start at sale mileage if the vehicle was plated (used on roads) prior to it. Perhaps it's different from countries to countries. Make sure to ask you salesman before buying it.

If a demo is used for 1 year then sold to someone, the buyer would have 2 years basic and 4 years powertrain left from the date of sale.

Just making some guesses on options, invoice (with holdback) would be somewhere around $42,365. So it's not a horrible deal. However, I personally think the pimped-out XLs aren't a great deal... you can typically get an XLT with more toys for the same price.

If it's a demo with 5K on it, they really want rid of it. If you're happy with the truck, I'd go back at them at a few K less, see what they say. And negotiate for a Ford ESP (not some third-part POS).

It is a really nice optioned XL. It has the STX package which comes with 20" wheels, running board, console, big touch screen, locker, and etc. It also has a sprayed in bed liner and trailer hitch. The XLT with comparable options looks to be a good four thousand more.

The dealer did show me what he called the "dealer slip." It has the invoice and holdback on it. Invoice was, as you said, a little over 42k, and the holdback was around 1700. The price before rebate came out to be exactly invoice minus the holdback (assuming the numbers were actually true). I asked him if there was any flexibility, and he said maybe 300 dollars.

It appears thre is at least 7k in incentives on that truck. Figure $500 below invoice which you should not be paying more for even on a new truck that takes you to where they offered. I personally would want 2500 more off at least. I am at 32k plus dealer doc. As a max price. I think the stx trucks are a steal right now. All they are offering on the rest of the f150 line is 0% plus 1k. That is a crappy incentive imo. To me that incentive is worth 4K in value. At most. I also agree that you at least 4 grand below a comparable xlt, which will not have the console unless you get a sport.

I did the same as you picked up a stx, recently. Added 2 tone leather, replaced grill with a lariat grill. I Also ordered lariat interior pieces like the vent bezels. I am going to do a wood wrap for the console door and above the glove box. Also a carbon fiber wrap on the door panel inserts. I will end up with a high end looking truck for thousands less.

The OP is in Alabama and the truck is being sold as new. His warranty would start on day one of his signing the paperwork and the mileage recorded on it.

Default STX with a 2.7l???

Hi. I read your question, This truck to a bank is considered used. It has over 3,000 miles on it which is the allotted "DEMO" mileage. Booking this car out using NADA value, the truck is worth with that mileage and engine choice $30,950.00. SO, that is roughly where the truck should be as far as dealer asking price. 31-32500(roughly) 34 is obsurd, especially with discounts. Id offer them 30,500 and walk if the answer is anything other than yes. The XL trim is the base trim F150 and has the poorest residual value of all the trim levels. At the price of 34k your roughly at 110% loan to value, and the truck will be worth 38% of original sticker in 5 years ($16,500 est.), so you will be severely upside down on it the entire time. If it were me, Id pass on the DEMO and buy a new XLT with the 12-13k of discounts to be in a positive equity situation instead of negative.... Just my .02

Totally different vehicle, but we were looking at buying a demo GMC Acadia for my wife and I walked when the issue of the warranty came up. I wanted the warranty to start at the sale mileage and the dealer would only sell it with 5K of the 3/36K already used up. Whatever you do, don't let them use 5K of your warranty.

I verified - 5k miles deducted from warranty, full term starts at sell date.

So, $32k + tax, tag, title, or should I go lower than that? They quoted me The Ford Extended Service Plan PremiumCare 72/100,000 for $2275 and the Preferred customer Program Premium Maintenance 72/100,000 for $1560. Should I also ask for a discount on these, or thrown in?

I would pass on service/maintenance plans for now. They can be added cheaper later most likely, entire threads on that topic exist on this forum. I think 32K is still a bit too high. I would say 31K including doc fee given that it is a demo plus tax, tag and title.
