They also have it advertised for $43,260. No one will pay that much for it of course, but I still think that you can get the truck out the door, including all fees and taxes for less than $40,000. Or like LaMartian said, shoot for a before tax price of $38,000.

You can make him even happier by giving him this F150 Forum account after you buy it, too (we can change the username)

Nice looking truck! I'm waiting for a train, but once on board I will try looking up a/z plan pricing for you. While you are likely not eligible, it will give you an idea of what a Ford employee would be paying and it cuts out dealer hold back and advertising fees.

MSRP: 48310
Invoice: 44879
X Plan Price: 44975
A/Z Plan Price: 43033
All of the above do not include the money back from incentives. Your post:
MSRP = $48,310.00
Discount = -$4,431.00
Rebate = -$5,050.00
Doc Fee = +488.00
Negotiated Price without county taxes = $39,317.00

So, taking the $5050 off:
Invoice: 39,829
X-plan: 39,925
A/Z-plan: 37,983

A/Z plan is Invoice - Holdback - Advertising Fee + $275 program fee. Holdback is 3% of MSRP-DeliveryFee = 3%* 47,115 = $1413.

A good price target if you aren't A/Z plan eligible would be invoice - most of the holdback: 39829 - 1413 holdback = 38,416. That still gives the dealer the $708 advertising fee (39829 - 1403 + 275 - 37983)

The doc fee is pure profit. However, if they listed "Dealer Profit" as the line item (instead of "Doc Fee'), not as many people would buy.

I'd bet that if you offered them 38K (+ taxes only) they would be happy to take your money.

I would suggest you look for an X-Plan pin online and use it. You get a flat doc fee (yours is abnormally high) and close to dealer invoice on the truck.

Its very much a pre-set price and cuts the haggling out. Do you have a breakdown of the rebates/discount that the dealer gave you?

Another alternative is to use truecar.com. You get to as close as dealer invoice price as possible.

Good luck with the purchase, the guy is lucky to have such an awesome wife that'll give him a truck!

So what is this X-Plan pin using you vin number? I Googled it but couldn't find much.
Thanks.

Some areas of the country deal more than others. The price you negotiated is very good. Is it the best in the country? No but it's better than many... So if you feel you are bottoming out with this dealer you can feel good that you negotiated a very good price.

He will love that engine and option combo.

Thanks.
Go sign up for membership to Mustang Club of America. Cost is $50 for a year and you get x-plan pricing as perk of being a member. It is what I did.
