Default Get rid of trailer back up assist? (control) for the smart guys.

i never use mine i tow 2 trailers maybe 2 times a year with my f150. i can back a trailer up with no problems.

the trailer assist **** on the dash is just doing nothing and today i got to thinking it would be nice to replace it with switches and maybe us the wiring for running grill lights and other lights maybe strobes. that way i wouldnt have to drill holes and have a nest of ugly wires running everywhere.

so for you smart guys that know the electrical on these trucks would my idea/thought be possible?

thanks,

You should be able to just remove the **** if you don't use it and add the switches.

But if you want to go further you could remove the IMPB behind the screen. Then you would have to jump the rear camera input wires over to the IMPB output wires. Also the LIN Bus would need to be changed to come from the BCM.

I am not sure why you'd do that when there are plenty of other places for light switches.

Pop out the **** and zip tie it securely to something back behind the trim panel. Then either put the switches you want in that spot or get a new piece of trim from a 2015 that doesn't have the opening for the ****.

Just leave the system active and ignore it.

Just pop out the panel the **** is part of and replace it with one of the others trucks without it don't have. Add your switches and run your own wires then when/if you get rid of it just snap the **** back in place and plug it in.

Yeh, never set mine up. It's just a waste. Kind of like those cars that parallel park themselves for those who probably shouldn't be behind a wheel.
