I've been out for a while, but I contacted my shop. They told me the same thing. They said that Yukon quoted me for the Super 8.8, but the G2's wouldn't work. I guess that settles things; however, I need to look to see if i can find them cheaper. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

You'd just need the install kit for the rear.

And looks like they have the fronts (gears + install kit) for about $500.

I'd hope you should be able to do the whole thing, front and rear, INCLUDING install for under $2000 with the Yukons.
Thank you! Once I get a minute tonight, I'm going to definitely have to take a look at finding them cheaper. Also, they have told me that the install is $1700. There is no way to get this under $2000 at that price. Are you guys getting this done for under $2K.. yukons gears and master install included?

You're welcome!

I was basing my calculations on:

$193 for the rears (not including install kit)
$500 for the fronts (with install kit)
=
$693 without the rear install kit.

My G2 gears were just under $1000 complete, and seem comparably priced, so if you aimed for the same, that would still give you about $300 for the rear install kit (to get to $1000).

I had two shops quote me for install, and both were under $1000. I wouldn't think there's a big difference in install price between brands, so only regional difference would need to be accounted for (I'm in Florida).

So that's why I said hoping for under $2K. About $1K for the gears, and hopefully slightly under $1K for installation.

Default Gear change

My local shop has quoted me the G2's and the Yukons.. both with the complete master kits.. front and rear. There is a huge difference in price. The Yukon install is $1000 more than the G2's ($2600 vs $3600) Does anyone have any experience with both of these brands? I've heard good things about the Yukon's, but of course, I'm trying to figure out if they are that much better than the G2's. I have a nice truck, and even though $1000 is a lot of money, I would be willing to go that route if the Yukon's are worth that much more. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Got a question for you if you don't mind, what is the reason for the gear change. I also have a 2016 Lariat 4x4 that has a 6" lift and running 35's but I think I have 3.31 gears in mine according to my window sticker. It falls on it's face on the highway in 6th gear. It that part of your reasoning to ghange out gears? I might do the same thing to mine and let me know how you like the gear change. Thanks Craig

That is absolutely why I'm doing it. The larger tires have changed my shift points, and I have lost some power. At highway speeds, my truck does not want to shift into 6th gear. I usually have to let off of the gas a bit to let it shift into 6th. It also downshifts too easily on slight inclines. Changing gears to 4.10 or 4.11 will get me back to factory specs, and it should help slightly with gas mileage. You should see a huge difference in your truck going this route; especially since you have 3.31. (I have 3.55).

I'm all for changing gears, as I've done it myself and love it, but just purely FYI, you can buy a simple handheld tuner for a couple hundred bucks and fix the speedometer, shift points, and maybe add a little power too. You'll want it for your new gears anyway, so you could actually buy one now and see if it makes a big difference... I use the one from Superchips.

I'm sure that would help, and I do plan on adding a tune. Me personally.. I just feel more comfortable improving the mechanics first. I want the correct gears for the tires I have on the truck. I feel like that's going to be the best thing for the long run. I'm planning on going with the OZ Omega Tune, once I get this done.

Yep, totally agree. My gears transformed the truck. The performance is absolutely incredible. Good luck with everything!
