Question Gear Noise while slowing down and low speeds

I have a 2015 3.5 EcoBoost 4WD Lariat truck. When I slow down, say for a stop light or stop sign, I get a low level but very noticeable vibration. It feels like something in gears is grinding. I does not effect drivability in anyway. Just a noise you feel through your feet and seat of the pants while slowing down. I do not notice it while accelerating. It was not there until about a year ago. My truck has about 62,000 miles on it. It has not gotten any worse either. Anybody have any thoughts?

IWEs trying to engage. Tons on info on that. Your first line of defense should be to change the vacuum check-valve and hoping that's it. It's only like $7 (about $15 shipped). But with your mileage, you might have real IWE issues. It could also be the front differential. At least your truck lasted a long time without any issues. I'd consider myself lucky if mine could reach that many miles without any problems. Good luck, and please keep us posted.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I did some searching on the form and found the following thread, https://www.f150forum.com/f118/whats-noise-439169/. In this thread there is a video of the noise. That it not my noise. My noise if a very uniform Hmmmmm that I can feel in my feet and seat. However, I will check out a few tests such as putting it in 4WD and see if it changes things while going at slow speed. I also will probably just take it to the dealer and see what they say. I will reply when I know something more. Thanks again...

what shape are your tires in? Cupped tires will produce a similar symptom. Easy to tell with a visual inspection

Tires are brand new and and are fine. I has to me a driveline or 4WD issue. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Could also be a bad wheel beari. Especially if it doesn’t go away in 4WD. Most complaints I’ve seen related to IWEs are not when the vehicle is slowing down. If it is one or both IWEs, it will probably be one of the IWEs themselves. However, my guess is a wheel bearing.

Same vibration for me as I'm slowing down, approaching a stop. I'm in a 2018 XLT with less than 3,000 miles. It vibrates in drive but if I put her into neutral, the vibration goes away. I assume it's the new 10-speed transmission.

Mine is in the shop waiting on a new bearing in the transfer case. My symptoms were much like yours.
