I've read this entire thread and there is definitely some great info in here. I'm trying to go from the 2.3" just to the 4.2" and I've seen that one person was able to remove the chip from their 4.2", but couldn't get the chip out of the 8" to reinstall.
From anyone's experience, is swapping the chips an option going from the 2.3" to the 4.2"?
I'm very concerned about any mileage/hours discrepancy between the computer and the cluster, so even going to a third party where they can ballpark it to within 100km is not completely appealing to me.
Thanks!

Just spend a little time and do some clear math and you should be good. Track how many miles you drive/day and how many hours you drive/day, etc and work it out. I swapped my cluster when the mileage was exact (drove the last mile in circles in a parking lot). I misjudged my hours, so I'm 2 hours off on my engine hours, but my idle hours are perfect.

check out car-part.com, I just searched them and found two available - on the main page enter your search as shown (adding your Zip code)...
then select "Lariat MPH" from list...
Your results should look like this...
