3.5 vs 2.7
The current 3.5 is Gen 1 technology and the 2.7 is Gen 2 technology. I expect Ford will roll out the Gen 2 3.5 once the 10 speed is ready. I do not believe the current trans is up to handling the torque that it will put out. :-)

10 speed is coming sooner than you think, best bet will be 2017 for all models. There is another big change coming for the 2018 models that is going to make people's head's spin (already working on prototype parts) but if I leaked it on the forum, Ford might send someone to my house to take me out lol. If you think the 'truck made of beer cans' banter was bad, wait until Ford makes their announcement for the 2018 line-up lol
My guesses are either the 3.2L diesel from the Transit or the 2.3L 4 cylinder from the Mustang. No need to respond and get a visit from our friends at Ford.

Or an electric or hybrid truck? Some kind of Ecoboost/electric thing. That would DEFINITELY get some people worked up.

More gears equals more torque management, which may or may not be a good thing. Just ask new owners of Cummins Diesels how they like that torque management. An engine can have all the power it needs, but if the computer and transmission are tuned for economy and emissions...all bets are off. The current 6 speed is a solid transmission...why wait.

I can't see Ford putting the 10 speed in the lineup before the Raptor gets released, which we know is a 2017 model. My opinion is the 10 speed comes in 2017 or 2018. Sync 3, I'd also guess 2017. I actually don't have any problem with the current Sync, so I went ahead and ordered the 2015.
