Future 400+ hp v8??
I just went over 100,000 miles on my 2011 with the 6.2 v8 w 3.73s. I'll probably be in the market for a new truck around 2017-2018. Any rumor on enhancements to the 5.0 to get over 400 (stock) hp and torque by then? My truck stock has 411 hp and 434 torque. And with the 5 Star tune, it's pretty peppy. While I admit I haven't driven an ecoboost, I just can't see any way that I'll be happy with one. I really, really like the v8 sound plus I will definitely upgrade the sound system. The "enhanced" engine sound is a complete deal breaker for me. The new F150s are a complete upgrade over my truck in almost every way except for engine power. I just can't imagine getting a new truck with less power than what I have now. And gas mileage is a non-factor for me. 14 or 24 mpg, I don't care at all.

Isn't the 5.0 just under 400HP? It's lighter and drives totally different than previous gen. If you haven't driven a 5.0 2015 I would highly suggest you do to compare. Less displacement doesn't exactly mean less power. Remember the original Ford 5.0s in the 80s and 90s? I think they had maybe 220HP.

My sales rep that I bought my truck from the other day mentioned there was word that the next Raptor might be available with the same tech that's on the 2.7L. So a twin turbo 5.0 making over 500HP, so I'd say that's a nice option.............!

Your sales rep is misinformed. Next gen Raptor is a 450hp ecoboost. There is no twin turbo 5.0 class in BAJA, ergo no twin turbo 5.0 Raptor.

It's 385/387. So that's -26 hp and -47 ft-lbs compared to the 6.2. Certainly not too far off, but still less. Hopefully the lighter 2015+ models will make up that difference. Also, how hard is it to configure a 5.0 w 3.73s? I'd be looking at a platinum super crew.
