Default Fumoto oil drain valve/5.0/skid plate questions

I'm looking at installing a Fumoto oil drain valve but want to make sure there are no clearance issues using valve part number F107N?
Been meaning to get on of these things so might as well get one on order before my first oil change.

Is a drain tube needed to attach to the valve?. Does the skid plate need to be removed? Any clearance issues between skid plate and valve?

Thanks.

Well great, and thanks!

For Canadians I just ordered this instead of the Fumoto. They have good reviews and are reasonable and shipping is free.

Ready to roll. I prefer the built in O ring gasket this has over the Fumoto valve, and the plastic grip for the lever.

I guess I'll find out about skid plate when I do it since nobody here seems to know.

There is a thread here somewhere, but it pertains to the 2009-2014 and the website said you'd have clearance issues, but some posters said they had none. I just bought a Fumoto for my 5.0.

I didn't read this, but maybe it will be helpful.

Sure hope not. You'll likely be in the same boat as me if you have the skid plates however that extra nipple for the hose comes off if need be.

I have a feeling there won't be any clearance issues though.

On a Fideen+, the clearance issue arises IF you elect to use the A-107 adapter, as was originally specified. It no longer is specified after I reported it causing the whole thang to hit the hardlines.

The nipple is not a factor - nor does it (ever) need to be removed. Loctite it, in fact - y'all don't want it fallin' off, lol.

Thanks mang!

Good tip on the locktite, I will definitely do that. As for something to cover that nipple from crap getting in I was thinking about cutting off a small piece of that hose and filling one end with silicone. Whatcha think?

Just did my first oil change on the 5.sloh and what a breeze compared the ole 5.4. The oil filter is so much easier to get at. You can get your entire melon up there for a gander there's so much room.

Definitely no clearance issues between new drain valve and skid plate, in fact the drain plug is completely behind the skid plate.

I did make a mess removing the filter, and I did it with the truck still up on the ramps. Figured I could disregard other members stating level ground would be cleaner.
Had splooge comin out almost every hole in the skid.
Oh well, brake cleaner helped with dat.

Oh I forgot to mention I eyed balled one and a half 5 liter jugs and got it bang on the full mark, in one shot. I think that's a first. Tried the ole 5.4 way for charging the filter by holding foot fully down on throttle and turning the key and it worked similarly, but when I released it started up. Neat.
