Me too! I think I'll say with the conventional method.

Do you ever change the oil filter?

Diesel pickup guys have been using these for well over a decade now that I'm personally aware of.

How far do the valve threads extend past the oil pan threads? This would prevent the oil from completely draining.

I must have missed that in your procedure:

Hook on a piece of hose, put the end in my oil recycling jug, open valve, remove oil fill cap, walk away for 1/2 hour.

Great point.. If it extends into the sump, you could be leaving quite a bit in there

Not far enough to even make any kind of a visible oil level difference on the dipstick when adding the OEM prescribed amount of oil.

Glad youre not calling me a liar!! I had 1 for years, never had an issue on my Supra Turbo. Then I placed one on my GLi, and drove over the rutted snow/ice-which you may not have as severely as we have in Ct, and sure enough-it was just high enough to catch the lever. Since I don't go off road in my '16 Lariat, I may reconsider it, since it was convenient, but I just wanted the OP to know that it is possible!

I loved mine and would buy another in a heartbeat if I started doing my oil changes myself again.
