Front hub help
 
so first time posting ,i need some info on front hubs.my 650hp truck seems to chew and spit them out. is there a hd replacement ? lots of grinding under acceleration when it spins. just had left front replaced and still grinding. looking for

What kind of vacuum are you pulling? there is always less under acceleration, so that is where i would look first. since you have a supercharger i am not sure if anything was changed on your vacuum lines. IIRC you will have full IWE disconnect over 15" of vacuum..... should be seeing 20-21" normally.

are you chewing up the IWE's, or the hubs.... or both?

I would agree with mattd17. With your supercharger, you are probably loosing vacuum to the your front IWE's on a consistent basis, which is causing them to try to engage. That will chew them up pretty quick. You might have to take a look at the vacuum routing the ecoboost motors have, and use something like that.

my guess is you have a vacuum problem. It may be worth getting a small vacuum pump that runs when the truck is running to supply constant vacuum to the IWE system.

i think in winter time this would be the way to go because im in 4x4 all the time anyway. thanks for link ,i will look to see if i can buy these in canada before i lose my shirt buying from the USA.

no clue what i am pulling.. but i will get my mechanic to check. i am sure i will put in the eliminator kit for winter driving.

Yeah I run mine in 4A always....well unless I really want to light em up lol!

thanks for the info guys! great help and i had no clue i could eliminate them. i think for winter driving i will go with the kit to replace them and in summer i will go back to normal since this truck dont see mud or off road much and i had no issues in summer driving.

using IWE eliminators isn't really something you can easily, or reasonably go "back and forth" with. You either want them full time, or not at all.

In my opinion, they are nothing more than a bandaid for what would seem to be a loss (or lack) of vacuum. If you want to simply lock the IWE's fully you can unplug the vacuum hose from the solenoid. This will leave the hubs engaged to the front diff and your 4WD control will still depend on your 4wd switch.

The fact that you didnt have any problems in the summer leads me to think it could also be a moisture issue, possibly in the solenoid, vacuum lines or IWE's (or all of those parts). If you have moisture inside, it can freeze and cause problems. just something else to check.
