Default Frame question.

So last Tuesday a school bus rear ended me.
Well today I got a call from my insurance company after they had it towed to a collision center. The guy proceeds to tell me that they plan on fixing it so on and so on. I ask him if the frame was bent (already knowing the answer) to which he said yes, but it’s not totaled because the Ford frames are “three part frames”. He said that the frame has a front section, middle section, and back section and that they can just replace the rear section of the frame. Has anyone else heard of or dealt with this? If so do you have any info on our “three part frame”?

Yikes! As far as the frame, he is correct. The frame has gone somewhat modular and can be replaced now.

Unfortunately he is correct. With any luck they will find enough additional damage to reach the total threshold.

I had alot of frame damage from an accident and my body shop was told by Geico to do half the frame, my body shop refused telling Geico they don't section frames on trucks because on a truck the frame determines towing and it really "is" the truck. They ended up replacing the entire frame, we had to wait for Ford to produce it and they don't ship them out individually so 50 frames had to be produced then Ford shipped. My new frame is unlucky #13.. ..
