10 Speed Service Visit #4
March 5th I'm taking my truck into the dealer for the 4th unscheduled time to resolve my transmission issues.
2017 F150- Build Date January 6th 2017, 3.5 Second Gen 5200 Miles on truck
1. Truck shifts VERY rough when cold
2. When in manual mode at a stop, shifting between M1-M2 Yields a hard clunk and rattling sound from transmission
3. When driving, applying the gas there is a rattle sound like a chain from the transmission. Almost like a pump running or something.
4. Multiple times, I tried to use 4WD and there was a grinding sound from the drivers side axle
5. Oil leak from engine pan. Has been going away but I know for a fact its an issue.
6. Wrench light on- Truck feels as if no boost. No turbo sounds (This is the worse part
7. When coasting, and then applying throttle, there is clunk like play in driveshaft
I believe off my knowledge and the form info, that the following needs to be done.
-Oil pan needs to be replaced with new gasket to prevent further issue
-PCM update for rough shifting
-Some type of transmission work
-IWE front drivers side hub
-Turbo issue (Not sure about this one)
Honestly I dont want any other truck. I'm a die hard Ford guy and I just want a truck that works. I really have been disappointed with my dealers service. Hopefully this time it will be properly evaluated and corrected.

It's time to spend a few dollars and consult an attorney. In most places, 4 times for the same issue puts you in consideration for the lemon law.

Those are some pretty alarming sounds coming from down there. I'd say your concerns are very justified. I won't play backseat mechanic like some will. Put simple,The dealer needs to get in there and fix that under warranty. If you need to travel far to get it done I feel for you. Please keep us posted. I'm starting to worry with all the trans threads I see around here.

Well the thing is when I take it, the advisor types at like 2 words per minute, doesn't know what apple carplay is, and didn't know they had 10 speeds. "Trucks shift rough" SMFH
Im gonna be friendly, kind and work with the service manager and technicians. I will be contacting FoMoCo If this isn't resolved soon.
I LOVE my fords, and nothing will change that!

Problem is, most service advisors (hell, even service managers) don't know the inner workings of vehicles. Most are just hired off of the street. I've seen sales guys be promoted to services advisors/managers. Why? To make sales in service! My 10 speed has been whining since day one. Dealership says "it's characteristic of these vehicles". Just because they all do it, doesn't mean it's NORMAL! But, I digress. It's got a 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty. If it grenades, warranty will cover it.

Good grief sounds like the freaken thing is haunted.. chains and all. WOW... That's really beyond the pale IMO and I would be more then a little upset. Something pretty serious is going on with that tranny? If not the tranny whatever it is going on certainly isn't good.
Keep us posted as to what is resolved if anything.... I would certainly be chatting with Ford and getting this on the record. Good luck with this....
