As said above things act differently on each vehicle ( probably designed for a vehicle that uses fogs as DRL ), there is still lots of light for turning, I think it draws more attention from oncoming vehicles and they can see your turn signal better

The purpose is so that oncoming traffic can see your turn signal easier. It’s standard set up on many vehicles that use DRL’s to have the light on the side of the signal go out during signal operation and I would also bet it’s a requirement in many parts of the world.

That behavior is in daytime only when lights by the turn signal are the DRL, It is designed so that the DRL light does not drown out the turn signal.
When the Headlights are on, the turn signals will behave normally, like they have been for decades.

Speaking of turn signalling, I wonder if the mirror spots could be activated with the turn signal? My neighborhood has a few dark corners that require me to manually hit that mirror spot to see to the side...
I also wonder how much of an issue that would be for oncoming traffic...

no sorry, I thought you meant if they (the fogs) can be set to turn off with the signals. You cannot do anything with the mirror lights.
