Thanks! I've bookedmarked that link in case a software solution cannot be found. It looks like a workable solution, but being greedy, I'd still like it to turn on with the head unit, not the ignition. However, when the time comes, the power inverter is 18" away under the rear passenger seat, waiting to be spliced into!

This is a USB dongle. If it doesn't work I'll probably go to Best Buy or Fry's or something and get another.
Sorry I missed where you said you had a iOS phone.. It wouldn't work.. I'm using a USB dongle also... I do have trouble getting it hooked up sometimes... Can't tell you how I finally get it working as I just keep playing with it and all of a sudden it connects.

I'm not sure I mentioned it before, so you're all good! I'll try to reset the adapter after I get out of work.

Well, I've now tried anew by resetting the MX adapter and trying with no success. I'm thinking the BT dongle may just be crap. Here's the one I got BTW:

So I had originally thought of putting in a delay module like the PAC TR-4, but that only has a delay of 1 or 2 seconds, which is not long enough - since the turn-on goes hot when I unlock the truck, by the time I get the door open, the sub is on.

The fact that the sub turns on when I unlock the truck leads me to think the solution is in the ACM or the BCM (726-39-01) somewhere. I will try the Sony settings that Livnitup suggested, but if they don't work, then I need to figure out how to get the sub to turn on with the radio, not the accessories. Could Ford be controlling power to the sub the same way as the accessory power points?
I wonder if you run a wire from a keyed accessory fuse to trigger the amp if it would solve it. That should make it power up with the radio and not before.

I mentioned this in the subwoofer thread, I think the truck starts up the radio quietly in the background when you open the door or press stuff on your keyfob to make sure it's booted up and ready to go when you get in and start it. If you wire it to a keyed power connection you the sub won't power on when you turn on the radio without the key. This might not be an issue for your use case though.

Bad grounds can often cause that pop, did you check resistance of the wires in adapter to the car you made? What sub/amp are you using?

:edit:
Just went out and tested it. Right around 3 minutes 18 seconds after the last interaction with the truck it turns the amp on, any interaction powers it up. I do have a slight shutoff pop with the hideaway. The radio takes a good 5+ seconds to power up after this 3:18 second shutoff time compared to an almost instant start within the interaction window so I think my theory that it pre-starts it in the background on any interaction is plausible.

I'll say this much, I'm glad they did something like this. I wouldn't even use the backup camera in my expedition because it would take so long for sync 1 to boot and show the video.

It actually turns the ACM on because all chimes are sent through the radio speakers. Thus when you open a door, leave the headlights on, gear shift not put in park, etc... so the ACM/radio needs to power up whenever the vehicle is touched basically to allow for chimes to come out of the speakers. Just so happens the same remote turn on wire is being used for an aftermarket sub amp, so that is turning on also.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks.

I find my truck very annoying because the ACM takes too long to turn on or something, and so I end up getting 3 or 4 chimes/dings thru the cluster, then the rest of the stereo wakes up and I get the last chime/ding thru the speakers.

Wish I could make it all come up at the same time, or turn it off all together.

True... I agree. I figured out how to make the chimes come out of the cluster only and not the speakers at all. However, I am not a fan because the radio doesn't auto mute/lower volume when in this setting. So if you play loud music, you can't hear the cluster chimes lol.
