No luck. Windows says I've the current drivers. The BT is a USB dongle bought off of Amazon. Could the problem be a crappy/noncompatible dongle??

Maybe. Can you pair your phone to your computer via that bluetooth adapter to test it?

Manufacturer doesn't provide any more drivers, looks like they merged or something and don't have drivers on their new website.

I attempted to pair the phone to the laptop. It's showing on the laptop just as the OBDLink MX is on the laptop, and on the phone it shows connected to the laptop. Dunno if there's more to do to test things or not; never tried to connect the phone via bluetooth.

Did you try to open the forscan on the computer and change connections to bluetooth then try to connect? I'm at work so I'm not sure if the connections show blue tooth. I think I changed it from auto.

Yup. I tried playing with the settings as suggested by someone else, but no go. I've tried a bunch of combinations, including Bt and Auto a few times.

Will your phone running the Forscan free app see the MX and read data?

There's no free app for iOS, and I don't believe iOS works wth the MX. I'll look into it though.

This is a USB dongle. If it doesn't work I'll probably go to Best Buy or Fry's or something and get another.

You could try resetting the MX. You can reset it by holding the button on it for 15 seconds while its plugged in and key on. Then try to pair it again. I doubt the MX is the issue but its worth a shot.
