FORScan - software to enable/disable features in your truck
Is it Friday Yet?

Hey guys, After following the instructions on the ultimate OEM back up camera thread, I decided to take my truck to the dealership since I don’t have an OBD connector or Forscan. The installation went smoothly, so I feel positive that everything is wired correctly. However, the technician at the dealership said his program wouldn’t allow him to change the pertinent values for the camera activation. What am I missing? Is the dealership version of Forscan different from what everyone here uses???
Forscan is an aftermarket tool that allows you to make changes that are not VIN specific.
So even though the dealer physically installed the camera, they will not be able to turn it on. You will need Forscan to complete your install.
IDS is what they are using, and it only allows for Ford authorized changes based on the VIN. Since your truck did not come with a camera, the IDS is unable to turn it on. For the IDs to turn it on, the dealer will need to use the VIN from another truck with the same features as your, but with a camera as well, which they will not do, because it's against Ford's recommendations.

Thank you both for the replies...that makes a lot of sense. I suppose I’ll actually break down and attempt to learn how to use Forscan. For the record, the beautiful installation work was done by yours truly 😁

Thanks for the help last night guys, I finally things in working order. One last rookie question, I'm assuming I don't need internet access to make changes?

Finally got everything to work by uninstalling and then reinstalling my operating system on my tablet. Backed everything up to my computer first though. Reloaded my license and extended license and still wouldn't connect. Re-paired my OBD Wiz and still no go. Opened the OBD file and a window asked me for my license key. Thankfully I still had the box tucked away in my TV cabinet and found the card with the license key. Loaded it and made the connection. Finally have access to all my modules again! Thanks

at the far right on the screen that says the license is generated you will see "Download".... click on that to download the license, then in the FORScan software click "load license key", once the downloaded location window pops up click on the file you just downloaded to apply it to FORScan
