I didn't know that was disabled when I turned mine off. I've read some crazy stories about the batter MGMT system causing issues when a new battery is installed

With BMS active it gets to “know” the battery over time and remembers charging times and loads as the battery weakens. When you install a new battery you have to reset the system to clear out the old memory and start fresh with the new battery or you could very well have issues. Not an issue when you have it disabled.

This in effect removes the load from the alternator so it just becomes a free spinning pulley reducing engine load. There are two systems, the BMS controls what I described and is what we turn off. Then you have the battery save system that cuts power to everything if you leave the lights or an accessory on to save enough power to allow the battery to start the engine. This is common on most modern vehicles and what most people are familiar with. This remains unchanged.
Thank you. I think this is my last relevant question. If I make this change what , if anything, would Ford say about it? I have read all about the Maga_Ferg Act etc., but if I disable Auto S_S and leave it that way when I take it in for any service, what is the downside, if any?

I did all 3 lines in the Forscan guide and it disables all dash lights and the switch as well.

Likely they would not ever notice unless you took it in for a specific issue that involved that system. For example I wouldn't take the truck in for warranty work because auto S/S wasn't working

However if you were really worried about it you can always take a couple minutes and return it to normal before taking it in. Anything you do with Forscan is easily reversible.

Okay, so it’s the Jeep guys that get a light. I couldn’t remember which.

I also have a 2018 Grand Cherokee with *** and a lot of those guys are doing the exact same thing to disable it. They are pulling the fuse for the battery monitoring. They get a small warning light on their dash though. Sucks.

Turned mine off about 6 months ago and ZERO problems. Only thing that changed was no longer getting message that system is shutting down to save the battery. That happened before when truck wasn't running but was listening to the stereo for a SHORT time period. Now it's fine and haven't had any issues... no warning light in the dash either.

I think that I have decided to go with this. It requires no change to program and still allows Auto Stop Start to be used if desired. Downside is it cost $90 and you have to take a chance on breaking trim pieces to install it.

AutoStop Eliminator

Any thoughts / comments?

Soooo if the alternator is basically a free spinning pulley (when shut off by the BMS) and the battery has been disconnected from the system......what is providing electrical power to the car?
