My truck was throwing codes for the cat for a couple of years until I finally got sick and tired of it, never noticed any real ill effects.
Here in Ontario (Canada), they scrapped emissions tests a while back, so no worries there. As long as it doesn't affect the performance or reliability of my vehicle I suppose I can live with it, but I kinda hate having the check engine light on tbh.

Install an anti-fouler (sometimes requires two) on the downstream O2 sensor. They usually work to fool the PCM and keep the MIL off for the converter.

The first scope trace looks pretty normal. The second one shows a number of B2S2 drops while B1S2 shows a single drop. A longer testing interval to gather more data would probably be appropriate but the limited data does strongly suggest the B2 converter isn't doing a very good job and that the B1 cat might be degrading. The Mode $06 data also indicates that Bank 2 cat is less functional that Bank 1.

Thank you, I appreciate the insight. I have a feeling Ford's assessment is correct and the cat does require replacing.

I guess now I have to decide if the Rockauto one will be good enough to use. Wish there was some more info on it... haven't seen much feedback on them unfortunately.

late coming back to this thread but I didnt wanna deal with replacing one cat then the other go, especially with some data that might indicate the other is on it's way. I ended up buying the SPD catted downpipes. I had some issues at first but turns out the non-foulers were causing a leak on the passenger side. Since I removed them I've driven over 1500 miles with no lights

Just had the drivers side cat replaced (ap eastern) with new o2 sensors hoping the p0430 code would go away. It didn't. It's on all the time now. Prior to replacing, the code was off for a couple weeks. Came and went a couple times.

No idea what to do now. o2 readings are fine, fuel trim, etc. maybe the cat is junk.. I did smell a little sulphur today after a short drive.

How long did you drive with the new Cat?
The system needs time to evaluate the repair status by self testing.
If it passes the code is cleared.
These systems cannot act instantly on repairs the system has to prove out, first.
Even clearing the code, the system will still do the testing.
Emissions is set up that way so it cannot be defeated with a simple code clear just to get by inspection.
Good luck.
