Default Forscan for Dummies

Hope, I don't get flamed for this, but What is ForScan & what are the best things that you can do with it?
Pardon my ignorance, I am a hick from Dade County, Fl. Thanks.

The most popular are the following:

1. Disable the Double Honk.
2. Ability to do fogs & high beams at same time aka "Bambi mode".
3. Engine temp & Transmission temp shows above gauges (8" Clusters only).
4. Panic alarm on fob requires 2 presses.
5. Disables three "doo-doo-doo" start-up chimes from cluster.
6. Global Window Open/Close (Front only)
7. Autofold Mirrors - Lincoln Style.
8. Driver & passenger seatbelt minder status off.
9. Fake engine noise disable.
10. Heated & Cooled Seat Icons on home & climate screen.

And the list goes on...

Turn signals from 3 to 6
Keep the power points on instead of shutting off after a few minutes.

Upgrade headlights from Halogen to LED and ForScan will help you "fool" the truck into operating the LED lights as if they were factory units.

Most people use Forscan for programming...and it's an excellent feature of the software. However...what I found most useful about it is that it's the closest thing, in terms of diagnostics, to IDS. I've used it exclusively for this purpose. As much as I want to get rid of the double-honk and all of that...I rather not have to argue with Ford about whether or not I've "tampered" with my vehicles control modules.

The diagnostics definitely come in handy though. It's a lesser used/discussed function but probably just as valuable as the rest of the tool's functions.

Changing your Sync screen to other patterns and vehicles like the Raptor and Ford GT.

I put LED low beams in and didn’t do anything in Forscan. What does “like factory units” mean?
