believe it or not this is most likely no accident. It's typically caused by not having the correct part on the assembly line.
In that case they are told to put whatever non-matching part they have on the vehicle to keep it going down the line.
It costs exponentially more money to stop the production line for even 1 minute than to pay the dealer to fix it at delivery.

Worked in Ford body shops for 6 years(among other manufacturers as well). You wouldn't believe the stuff I've seen. Smiley faces drawn in paint, under the b pillar trim. 1 black handle, with the other 3 chrome. Different interior trim pieces, totally different colors.

I would hope so. That's what the "Dealer prep" fees are supposed to cover (assuming you didn't negotiate those away). I've seen this in travel trailers too - dealer charges a prep fee and then doesn't even do a walkthrough when it arrives from the manufacturer. Money for nothin'.

The good news is the dealer is on it and has agreed to fix it. I know you lost sleep over it, so I'm not pushing buttons (much easier for those of us it didn't happen too), but as another mentioned - if they all 4 matched, I actually like the mixing of the two colors.
