FORD = No Loaner Vehicles
#61
Local dealership wants to fix my dash warp with some new trim pieces. (Will update in that thread later, for you forum *****). Told me they don't offer loaners, and if I wanted to wait for a Nissan Maxima expect two weeks. Does Ford not reimburse the dealer for the rental if they put you in one of the dealers "demos" for you to drive. Mind you they don't know how long the repair will take, and chances are if I'm not happy they will keep it over night. Im not picky but this is for my wife and infant child to drive. And safety is why we buy these full size trucks right....
Ford not offering a loaner to me is like your employer telling you to run an errand in your car during work. If something happens to me on the clock its now my employers concern. Shouldn't Ford man up and put you in something comparable to what you pay for, in order for them to fix their shortcomings? Safest truck on the road, til your hit after walking home from the dealership after leaving a 40k dollar truck for warranty work. Didn't have this problem with GM.

A friend who wrenches for a Chevrolet dealer told me GM requires them to have 30 loaners available for service work.
My experiences with having service done on my F150 have been lousy. Between having to order parts and parts arriving at the dealership broken (not inspected until after I dropped off the truck) I've had to drop off and pick up the truck quite a few times (for vacuum pump issue and non-functioning rear defroster). I have a second vehicle but needing rides to and from several times has certainly been a hassle.

Neither Ford, Chrysler, or GMs base warranties provide loaners. GM provided loaners on recalls for their ignition problem IF kept and if asked.
Dealers can do what they want to do. Most got out of the loaner business for liability reasons. Enterprise is the main provider of dealer loaners I believe.

When I take my truck in for an oil change, ford provides me with a limo ride anywhere I want to go then picks me up and brings me back to the dealership. They also set me up with free gas for a week and a foursome with the Dixie Chicks or my choice of any two Playboy Playmates along with a 32 oz steak and a 24 of Michelob!

If you're acting like this here to a bunch of strangers I can only imagine how well you've kept your composure with the dealer you went out of your way to not buy a vehicle from and now expect them to go out of their way to help you.
No wonder you didn't get a loaner....

The worst part of this thread(other than the OPs odd emotional tirade) is that so many people think its fine to give subpar service to someone if they didn't purchase the vehicle from that particular dealership.
What if I move? What if I have a terrible experience with the salesman? What if my original dealer goes out of business? What if I have car trouble while out of town?
Dealers have lobbied to make it illegal to to have direct sales and service in many states. So, the flip side of that is that service departments at dealers should have to treat customers fairly regardless of whether they buy from them.

Well I agree things happen, and I'm guessing if you bought from a dealer that went out of business, or got bought that you would be treated well by the other local dealers. I believe if you are out of town it would be obvious and they would treat you well.
My point is seems like everyone shops price. What should your local dealer treat you the same as the guy that has been bring sales to them for year putting money in their pocket vs you who went out of town to save a few dollars.
Its a business and if you don't like the practice of them servicing customers that buy from them at a higher level, than vote with your feet like you did when you made your original purchase.

My dealer, and most around me offer a free shuttle ride to wherever I want to go...usually work. Okay, its not a limo but they'll drop me off then schedule a pick up and take me right back to the dealer at the end of the day.
This is better than a loaner in my book.
Loaners are a thing of the past...get over it!
