A hybrid seems a lot more practical to me, and I would consider one as long as the cost isn't out of line.

With my 36 gallon tank, I can drive 550 miles, spend 10 minutes at a gas pump, and repeat ad nauseum. When the electric vehicle will duplicate that, I will consider it.

Eventually they will. IC engines weren’t the harbinger of efficiency not so long ago. It’ll take time. As a city dweller and someone that doesn’t want to put “miles” on my truck to get a 6 pack because I live in the sticks, it’ll work for me, and there’s a lot of mes out there.

And then you have the issue no one wants to talk about... the power grid. Let's assume everyone installs a medium-speed charger at their home. Those require 220V @ 60A, or 13.2KW (some are higher, up to 19.2KW). The grid is already stressed, especially in summer months when ACs are cranking. Start adding 13KW of draw per house... or maybe it's 26KW because you have two vehicles. Before long, you start having blackout/brownout issues.

I'm sure it'll get there some day. But getting rid of the ICE and going 100% electric requires a lot more solutions beyond just getting the battery tech down.

How soon until we see this thread title, "Upgrade 2300 watt-hour battery pack to 3600 watt-hour?"

Mark my words.

Just imagine all the crap people sell now for improving the performance of their ICE trucks - updated for an electric drive! Like electric Leadfoot, ergonomic drain plugs for the battery coolant, a new catch can to catch - who knows what?, new K&N motor cooling fin attachments, a Bluetooth-controlled Borla simulated exhaust noise generator...

What else can you think of?

Ohhh, the new business opportunities...

You grab a case or two and a couple carton of smokes so your journey out of the sticks isn't frequent.

For the 5.0 and 3.5EB rattle out there, i heard ford is going to pipe in the rattle via speakers in new electric vehicles. Just to say, "see, told you, normal operation."

Things Ford must do first for the electric version to ?????????????

#1 Ford also need to replace it's poorly designed moon-roof with solar panels.
# 2 With their poor frozen door-latch design be like Makita batteries, 3 to hot or to a cold climate charge fails and the battery is locked out and will not work at all.
# 3 Just venting as the people who control this board don't want us with **** poor designs belly aching about it in the proper posts.

All for it, would definitely buy one along with Cadillac. No gas stations, no oil maintenance crap.
Plug in go do errands, come back and plug in. Be more dependable like electric yard equipment.
No fouled up combustion engine, dont care a thing about being green, just no maintenance

Reading on cost of charging. Hey no big deal. Worth whatever the cost, not having to wait at
a filling station with all the other hoards trying to get fuel. Like the good ole day of fuel tanks on
the ranch. It was your own personal tank.

Granted might have to keep a gas burner around as a back up source but have all bases covered.
Or if going on a long trip where chargers are scarce.
