I know a topper would solve this, however, my truck has the rear sliding window which I really enjoy using and the kids like it open too.
If the crate is less than 20 inches wide you could do that as the front panel is that wide, that's how deep that tool box is and 21 inches tall, 60 inches wide

Another hard folding that I personally highly recommend is the Extang Encore. No tools needed for removal. Front panel opens. Panels fold from rear to front flat so you can see out the rear view mirror. As someone mentioned, you do need to open the tailgate at least enough to get your hand in there to open the back panel.

Just another option.

Unfortunately, Yes it does, about halfway rendering them useless, this is the only thing I don't like about it. I use Thule roof racks and a Thule goalpost whenever I need to haul long items, Works well and is easy off.

I like that one as it appears that you do have access to the stake pockets, But it definitely is not attached secure enough to drive with front panel open as per their install manual.

Yah, I would imagine the risk of wind getting in the front panel and causing the rear panels to lift is the problem.

I went out and looked at the stake pockets, they are partially obstructed with this cover as well. Depending what you are putting in them, might be an issue.
Here's a pic...

That front panel looks a lot wider then the Fold a Cover. Do you know if the manual states you can drive with the front section folded back? Also, mind me asking what yours ended up costing you?

I bought mine from a vendor on here (Autoplicity), not sure they are still around as I tried to go to their website and it isn't working well. I believe I paid $765 delivered, which at the time was the cheapest I could find by about $100. Not sure what they are going for now.

I don't have my manual, but it looks like the guy that just posted looked it up online and it says that it shouldn't be driven with the front cover up. I have, for short trips here and there when I had something in the bin, but not at highway speeds.

Yes, I like that you have access to stake pockets on this one, But you lose me on 2 points.
1. you must open tailgate to open cover
2. Doesn't open from front
And what's with the cheesy cords for latches and hold down while driving with it open. Bungie's don't stand up to florida sun. For your msrp you can do much better.
