Flush mount Rigid D2 in rear bumper
Am going to install 2 flush mounted, switched, rear bumper, Rigid D2 51231 or the SRM/SRQ. I want to be able to light up well the area, for example: setting up camp after dark, doing some sort of emergency work at night, etc.
My two questions are:
1- The Rigid D2 51231 is the driving light. Do you think this is best light pattern at rear bumper height to accomplish lighting up the area? Or maybe SRM or SRQ is better choice.
2- Anyone done this, any experience to share
Thanks

I have D2 driving beams on my offroad toy (Kawasaki Teryx4 side x side), and they are fantastic lights! Driving beams are the best of both worlds, giving you a nice flood pattern, and still shining out far. For a reverse light, if you wanted to save a little money, I think you could get away with a standard Dually flood beam. I run 2 of the Dually floods (cube style) on the back of my rollbar for reverse lights, and they light up quite nicely, and far enough for a reverse light. If you think more is better, you'll love the D2 driving beams, but if you want to a save a little, you'd be fine with Dually flood patterns I think.
Do NOT get the spot pattern. While they will shine very far, they are way to narrow/small of a pattern IMO.

my .02:
on my last truck I had two Rigid Dually Flush Mount with Diffused Lens on my rear bumper, worked great for both the back up camera at night and for lighting up the trailer/work area behind truck when loading up the toys and such.
(prior to that I had the D2 w/ flood pattern and they blinded the rear view camera but lit up an area further away from the truck)

Good advice fellas, thanks. I'm gonna pull the trigger on the diffused sr-q pair, sounds like the way to go for strong light without blinding my back-up cam...

I have the diffused duallies flush mounted in my bumper and they are absolutely perfect. I would recommend going with the diffused lenses and not getting the d2s, unless you go with the "wide" beam. the driving would be a bit blinding if you were attempting to do work behind the truck, and may wash out the camera. Here is an output of the dually diffused pair behind my truck. They aren't meant to project, that why the pictures aren't all that flattering .
I would strongly recommend going with the rigid reverse light wiring kit with 3 position switch as well. that way, theyre triggered in reverse or flipped on when they are needed in other situations.

I'm doing the same exact thing tomorrow.
