Default Fix rough ride, shocks or tires first?

I have stock 20" rims and stock everything else and Ive got a pretty rough ride.

Would the ride improve more by going to more sidewall and 18" rims, or upgrading the shocks? Im sure both would help but what would you do first? I was thinking of checking at the dealer if theyve got any 18" takeoff sets.

While I have 20 inch wheels on 35 inch tires and a 6 inch lift, I just put on some Fox 2.0 shocks in the rear...it made a heck of a difference and rides so much better. Just my 2 cents.

Do both at the same time. New shocks alone will help control you ride better, but it'll make it feel somewhat harsher. The road will feel harder under the truck, but less floaty and jittery if that makes any sense. New 17" or 18" wheels with good tires will smooth out the harshness and the feeling of every small road imperfection. The new wheels combined with good shocks will give you a less harsh, smoother ride that feels more controlled, planted to the ground and less jittery.

The stock tires are decent. I'd do shocks first.

what psi are you running? That could be a factor. shocks wont make your ride softer but getting a lighter smaller wheel and more sidewall will.

Shocks are also going to be cheaper then new wheels and tires all the way around, if you're just looking to see about improving the ride.

I run all my tires at 40 psi and the ride is noticeably rougher than the reccomended psi.

Got 5100 up front and KYB in the rear with 20" and BFG Advantage T/A Sport LT tires @ 40 PSI, ride is truck like, but not rough. When I switch over to the 18" Wrangler LT that came on the truck, the ride is about the same, but do notice a bit of squishiness from the taller sidewall. There is also more roll on turns that I don't get with the 20" tires, so it's a trade off.
