Per Ford's warranty, Ford themselves will not provide a loaner vehicle. It is entirely up to the dealership to eat that cost or not. I think this is a load of crap. If my truck has to go in for warranty, then the manufacturer should provide me a vehicle in the meantime. It's not my fault that the product they sold was defective. That's my opinion, and my thought process at least.

I agree, and a lot of extended warranties include a rental/loaner. Also a lot of insurance policies include a loaner.

Why not include that in the sales contract. If the product purchased is defective, the mfg will provide a suitable alternative until the product can be repaired or replaced.

seems reasonable to me.

I believe that is the way it used to be. I came across that little "gem" one day when I was looking to see if modifications would void my warranty.

I pay extra monthly on my insurance to cover a rental in the event of a wreck (might cover extended service) of $50/day with a max of like $1500/rental period.

Same here. I don't remember what the rental coverage costs. But I used it once about 10 years ago when I totaled my truck and it came in real handy while I shopped for a replacement.

I would never make a claim on my Insurance Policy for a rental car, because my truck was in the shop, they add up down the road as claims! Just me though.

I have no reason to play your petty game since I think they should have given him a ride.

Please accept my petty apology, I mis-read your post!

I know there was no disagreement. I was just venting a little frustration since I was a service advisor for 6 years at a Volvo dealer and 2 years at a Dodge dealer long ago. The actions of that SA reflect poorly on the dealer as a whole and himself personally. Now look. The dealership is blasted over this site that sees 7,000,000 annual page views. Why is it so hard for people to help other people? Bothers me a lot.

Now if it were me, and I had my kids with me, I would make darn sure they were as obnoxious as they could possibly be and make rukus at the dealership.

Hey they are on vacation, and its a LONG walk back. It would be difficult though since they are the type to sit quietly while waiting and would look at me very strange like, wondering, what the heck is wrong with daddy?!

I have rental on my Gieco, and extended repair coverage, so if the truck breaks down and is in for anything other than a simple in-out repair, then I can get a loaner, including a pickup if needed.

Good plan!

I've got the rental through Geico, but I don't think I've got the extended repair.
