Default First real repaid

At 103,161 I had to replace my water pump. Truck did not abandon me. I was able to drive it into Ford. New pump, replace serpentine belt and flush / fill of antifreeze total ~$950.

None of us like repairs but this all seems reasonable to me. If I get another 100k miles before going back in ... will be real happy.

When I was younger we would celebrate the odometer turning over 100,000, which actually showed "0", and consider that vehicle a real survivor.

Yes sir remember those days well...if you got 120k or so out of an engine it was only a matter of will it stay together next time you hit passing gear or shut it off !!
Also just replaced (towed in failure) my 2016 w/pump @ 200,000 km....cost with thermostat & flush $1200.00 cdn. + towing......

I guess, For me, if a water pump died at 100k I'd be disappointed in the quality, most jap cars I own and have owned go 2X that with ease.

Just curious, how did you know you needed to replace the water pump? That's one of the repairs I'm anticipating during my ownership of my 2017 5.0.

Im ok with replacing the water pump at 100k. What im not ok with is the crap quality of other parts like gas tank lids falling off and frames and bodies rusting of the Japanese cars.
