Default First oil change - V8

I have a '15 with the 5.0 V8...

I just rolled over 3000 miles and will be looking to get my first oil change within the next 500 miles or so... (I know that is a little overkill for interval, but I want to do one now, and then I will fall back to 5,000-7,500 oil changes)

I plan on taking my truck to the Ford dealer to have them do it (yes I could do it myself, but its too cold out and snow in my driveway)

I am using my mind - I am currently flipping through the Owners manual, and it list part numbers, oil capacity, etc... but not oil weight? Um?... struggling to find this info...

Anyway, is there any reason to switch to full synthetic and/or not use the "default" stuff the dealership puts in. (or is the default stuff synthetic or a blend?)

(I know turbo motors are much different than NA motors, so please only 5.0 V8 guys)

You're overthinking this.

Full synthetic will give you a longer oil change interval, that's all. It won't change how the engine performs, it probably won't make any appreciable difference in how long it lasts if you keep up on the maintenance.

I personally went with full synthetic 5w20 in mine, but I changed it myself. I also went with a synthetic media filter which is IMO more important than the oil you choose to put in it. I drive very few miles every year so I'll likely be on a once per year oil change interval and having full synthetic oil that is intended to be run that long just makes me feel better than having cheapo oil in there. Again, probably no real difference, but it's how I choose to do it.

I did my first oil change at 1900, and plan on doing the next at 1 year or 9900 whichever comes first. The factory fill that came out of my truck at 1900 miles was downright gross, I don't think there's any issue with changing it as early as you're doing it.

5W20. I've read recommendations to run dino for the first 5k or so, then it's fine to switch to full synthetic, that's what I did anyways.

I did my first oil change at 1,500 miles. I went 5-20 full synthetic. I plan on driving mine until the wheels fall off.

that's what they all say.... so you plan on driving your truck more than a decade and until it has reached 200k+ miles?

the engine will outlast many components in the truck and I have yet to hear a story where a ruined engine was attributed to the fact that the customer followed the manufacturer guidance for oil changes...

Yes, that's the plan. You may very well be right about the engine outlasting all other components. I consider it to be a peace of mind thing.

What is the oil Ford puts in from the factory? Is it a regular, a blend, or full synthetic?

Should I start to use only full synthetic? I know there are a million debates about this... but synthetic IS a better product, and last longer, but I plan on changing oil between 5-7500 miles

- I have a BMW as well and BMW now states 15,000 miles between changes! while Ive read many debates about all that, I do my oil in my car every 6-7500 miles as well -

I will be taking my truck to the dealer to have them change it, and know sometimes they just have huge barrels of oil that they use in every single car - regardless of what the car "takes" or what the sales/service person tells you.
Should I go with whatever Ford dealer says, or specifically request xxx oil and weight?

I personally like Mobil 1 oil, but it doesn't really matter I suppose as long as its a quality brand.

Thanks guys.

semi-synthetic, had my first changed at 7k. Owners manual says every 10k. I'll have that done at the dealer so theres a ford record of the correct intervals.

I did my first at 2500 miles with Mobile 1 5W20 full synthetic and I'm sticking with every 3500 miles. I know that's wasting a little money but I'm a firm believer engine oil plays a big roll in the health of your vehicle!

I also go to the dealer so it's all on record. Plus they always give it a good look over.
