Default First flat tire and discover this...

So I walk out of work last Thursday to sweltering heat. As I pull out of my parking spot I realize my drivers side rear tire is flat. Oh joy. So I get pulling the spare down only to find my spare tire is an 18" not a 20" tire. All I ever hear about is how your not supposed to run two different size tires on a vehicle and Ford is selling me a truck with just that?????
I'm going to call my dealer and find out what is up with the different size tires...
Anyone else have any insight? Does your spare match whats on the truck?

Spike

Wow tough crowd. Ask a simple question that is answered in the first two replies and then the "I'm smarter than the world" posts start jumping in. Excuse me for not knowing. I hope you guys never have a question your not sure of the answer to. I'd be dumbfounded if I had to nominate one of the smart *** replies for A-hole of the year, though having seen a few other responses from brokemillwright he might get the nod, but it would be very close.
For those that answered appropriately thank you.

The tire size wheel size doesn't matter as long as the overall diameter is the same.

All the spares are 18" no matter what wheel you have. It's just plain steel also and not aluminum.

The outside diameter is the same as the 18" or 20".

This is the way they come from ford.

As is mentioned above, wheel diameter doesnt mean ****. Overall diameter is what matters, and your spare will match in this regard. Ford has both 17" and 18" spare wheels depending upon your model and options.

It's amazing how people that drive don't understand the difference between overall tire diameter vs wheels size, and how also but ford not giving them a matching fancy wheels, they give a cheapo to get you buy so they can save some coin. People these days

It was that way on the previous generation, so nothing new. At least it's a full size spare. Imagine if they started using a space saver spare to save on weight. Or give you a bottle sealer and an air compressor, like my car.

I'm sure my 97, 99, 02 were already this way. Only had to use the spare once and that was on the 2002.. Hope that was the last time.
