Default First crank in the morning?

I am a happy owner of a 2017 F 150 Lariat FX4 with the 3.5 ecoboost engine. I've had the truck since Labor Day weekend and love it! One thing that I have wondered about however, is that when I first crank it up in the morning it seems to turn over a few more times than I would think a new truck would. It has done this since day one and just want to know if this is normal. All subsequent cranks throughout the day seem quicker. Appreciate very much any responses!

this is common with direct injection engines.

Any video?

Cranking should not be abnormally long, but might be longer than the other start-ups during the day because of the fuel not being primed in the fuel lines I guess.

It's not a crazy long time but it is noticeably longer than other starts throughout the day. I wondered about fuel priming as well. It's the second generation 3.5 ecoboost which is both port and direct injection. Anyone else notice this with their second gen ecoboost?

A video would be better. Hard to determine your definition of a longer crank time. Was it cold outside?

I'm guessing the HP fuel pump has to pump up the rail before it fires the injectors.

I haven't posted before but I've spent quite a bit of time on the forum. I had the same problem that you have now. I have 17 King Ranch with 3.5. Long starts when engine is cold from the day I bought it. I found the answer on this forum and took it to the dealer. They replaced the low pressure fuel pump. It wouldn't hold pressure. It's been perfect ever since. The long starts are not normal. I hope this helps you.

I have noticed the same thing on my new 2018. I’m really not concerned. It just turns over a few more times than when fully warm. I think if it was the fuel pump it seems like it would be doing this on every start.
