If my memory serves me I can remember when the glass in most all (or some) cars had a LOF sticker which I believe was Libbey Owens Ford. I guess I was led to believe that it was a Ford company. Whether or not it was a Ford company they made the glass for some if not all makes of cars.

Bought my truck in CO and drove it back to CT. Somewhere around Knoxville the same thing happened to me, and safelite replaced with OEM glass. I have USAA for ins and my glass coverage paid for it.

Ford made/used some cheap glass imo.
I already have a surface scratch on mine and i also have the outline of a leaf that had fallen on the windshield. 1 month later and a bunch of storms/showers, driving through hail, and a car wash, and the damn outline is still there!

I would ask installer about switching the sticker to the new glass . When they replaced my windshield they moved over the stickers i had on. It wasn't perfect but the guy did try and i was happy enough with the result .

I just had my windshield replaced by safelite on my Edge. They used an aftermarket glass called Plinkington, or something like that. I do not notice any difference in noise or quality right now in regards to the original soundscreen that was in there.

Yeah back in feb I had something similar a rock hit then I had to spray the window and it instantly cracked from the change in temp (cold washer fluid and warm windshield)
I pealed off the built in dearborn sticker before taking it in.
Also they told me I would get CarLite glass and what I received was if i remember correctly CarLex. When I looked them up it looks like they are the same company.
I didn't notice a difference in sound only thing really different is having a really clear window again.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Started in bottom left corner but now is halfway across my windshield. Such a **** off. Got a quote for 240 plus tax CDN for aftermarket glass. Not gonna change it till cops pull me over or I can't see. Just had to buy a new tire last month too. 240 for that as well. Not happy having to put money into a truck with payments under warranty. That's life I guess

When my windshield cracked I told Geico that I wanted an OEM Windshield with the Ford logo at the top. Safelite was the company used and the first time they came out the guy had an aftermarket windshield without the logo so when I asked about it he checked his paperwork and realized the mistake. A few days later they came out with an OEM replacement. I didn't receive any push back from Geico for wanting an OEM instead of aftermarket.

I recently had the windshield on my 09 replaced by Safelite. I was concerned that they would try and stick me with a non-Ford replacement missing the "F-150" graphic behind the rear view mirror. I asked the tech about it when he showed up and he told me that Fords are always OEM glass.
