FINALLY got my F150 - a 2017 Black Platinum
After YEARS of wanting a black F150, my dream finally came true just before Thanksgiving! I had originally planned to get a Lariat, but I couldn't find one ANYWHERE with the right combo of features I wanted. I looked everywhere from NC to Texas...as far south as Miami and as far north as Ohio.
I THOUGHT I found one just down the road...only to find out it was a demo and had over 6K miles on it. Boo
I THOUGHT I found another one in South Carolina....when I asked the sales person to verify the odometer (because of my experience above), they called back and said "Well, it has over 2K miles on it....but that's not the bad news. Apparently during our last tornado, a piece of rebar stabbed the driver door and is sticking out of it." Say what, do huh?! K THANKS BYE.
As my hopes of finding my perfect truck (couldn't order one, cause I was looking for a '17 and wanting the end-of-year deals Ford is offering), I took a wild shot from the hip.....and went in search of a Platinum.
I got even crazier and took a shot through Costco's Auto program. Filled out the form, hit submit, got a call about 10 minutes later....girl put me in touch with the sales guy...I told him what I was looking for and he searched for it as I listed all the features I wanted. I heard his keyboard banging away and when I said, "and I guess that's it" he replied with "found ya one and I can get it tomorrow morning". Naaaahhhh...too easy. He emailed me a price, and surprisingly it was LOWER than what I was expecting. Drove down and picked her up the next day.
I can think of 4 times in my life my heart skipped a beat when I first saw something.....my bride walk down the aisle and the first time I saw each of my 3 kids! haha
When I got in, AC/DC's "Back in Black" started playing......I took it as a sign. lol
So here she is...she's finally mine...and I love it! 2017 F150 Platinum with 5.0L V8
Thank you to everyone on this forum for ALL of the advice you freely offer. This is my first time posting, but I've read SO MUCH info that helped me choose the right year, trim, engine, etc.
I'll update this thread as I modify it, but on deck next week is:
Remove front license plate
Change fog lights to Morimoto XB LEDs
BFG K02 285/65r20 (on OEM wheels)
Bilstein 5100's on front & rear....front leveled to 2" (may upgrade to Halo Boss kit in the future to go to 3")
Magnaflow Dual Exhaust ( This one: https://www.americanmuscle.com/magna...product_videos )
CONSIDERING aFe Magnum Force Pro intake (on the fence with this one...not sure it's necessary)
I'll post progress pics as it happens.

Nice! Just went through the same thing. I was looking for a high-level Lariat, none to be found anywhere. My dealer located a Platinum 250 miles away with the equipment and color I wanted boom, deal done.
