Default The Ferrari of Trucks

Well, I have now driven them all!
The 6.2 GM, the Hemi, and even the 3.5 EB.

They are all great engines, the 6.2 has a ton of torque, more than all the others, but it cuts out just short of the "fun zone". It builds up to a point when you nail it, buts starts to shut down just when you are starting to think it is going to really rip!

The Hemi, especially with 3.92's is strong too, but just seems somewhat "flat", at least in stock form.

The 3.5 EB almost feels the strongest, particularly on a typical dealership test drive on urban streets and arterials. It has a ton of mid range punch, but after that, well, that is just all there is....

But the 5.0! It moves out with smoking tires (particularly w/3.73's in "Sport" mode) and I it just howls and pulls and builds to a sonorous crescendo and makes passengers say "and this is a truck engine?" Really, we are very lucky to still have a naturally aspirated engine with such a genuine sporting character available to us to enjoy.

It truly is the "Ferrari" of truck engines!

And whaddya know, like most modern hot rod motors, it's as tame as a *****cat if you drive it sedately, but man, what a waste!!😀😀

Are you trolling or something the Ford 5.0 is an absolute dog engine. It's a car designed engine put in a truck...

My 5.0 put down 650 to the tire on stock internals. No stock internal 6.2 or EB can keep up with it.

A Full-race FReakoboost kit would smoke that, with stock internals..

The engine is far from a dog. The power is there as well as the torque. It's a well designed compromise in providing adequate power and torque while keeping its thirst in check. Power is readily and easily increased upwards of 650-700whp with a supercharger while keeping internals stock.

The 6.2 sounds better I'll give it that with a deeper note and more torque but the 5.0 runs well and well enough beyond the 6.2 and the competition.

I've owned my Mustang GT for over three years 53k miles modded and it has been faultless. Pulls like a bat especially with the Boss Manifold.

That being said... No it's far from a Ferrari engine lol

The same could be said about the 3.5 Ecoboost motors. They were available in the SHO and Flex a few years before they put them in the F150.
