The Ferrari of Trucks

Right on! As the OP, I am sorry if my point was not made clearly enough. As stated earlier, I should have made the post title " Most Ferrari-like truck engine" or something similar. Sorry to see that this thread has gone so sideways, my point is merely this - having driven all the available high output trucks, (and I like them all, for different reasons) nonetheless the engine with the most inherent "sporting" character (hence, the most Ferrari-like) was the Ford 5.0 Coyote.
And why not - as it was designed to be a performance engine when first developed for the Mustang GT.
Also, consider that the "sound" of the engine is a big component of engine character, whether it be in a Ferrari, a humble 500 Abarth, or even a pick-up truck!
The Coyote has that sporting sound, which can be very difficult to emulate in a "non-sporting" engine.
Another point, this isn't just about "speed". I have owned multiple turbo vehicles that pumped out huge torque numbers, like my SRT4 with a 50 trim -(2.4 liters,400 ft lbs, 2800 lbs) which was fast, but "fussy" as well. I was always
checking EGT's, AFR's, fixing boost leaks, etc. and it sounded like a garbage truck under full boost. You turbo guys must certainly know what I am talking about. It was fun, it was fast, but in the end, I preferred the easy smoothness, cadence, power (and sound) of a (much less complicated) sporting V8.
The 5.0 in the F150 (particularly w/ 3.73's) is quite a potent pick-up power plant in its own right, it benefits from a natural smoothness and simplicity, and IMHO, is the most sporting or "Ferrari-like" of all the truck power plants. That's all I was trying to say. 😊

The 5.0 in the F150 (particularly w/ 3.73's) is quite a potent pick-up power plant in its own right.
For 2015, it has more torque at lower rpm plus a higher rev limit with 15 more horsepower- thanks Ford engineers- how cool is that! It works amazingly well for truck duty.
The 5.0 benefits from an inherent natural sportiness, smoothness and simplicity, and IMHO, is the most sporting or "Ferrari-like" of all the truck power plants. That's all I was trying to say. 😊

Just to add, it might need to rev up more but sounds so good and healthy doing it that it does not matter. That ole 5.4 would sound strained over 2500 rpm, so if you had to rev it up you felt like you were doing it harm.

I don't believe I called "HIM" stupid but if my post caused you to raise an eyebrow than I consider it a success. It made you think...maybe not in the same direction as I do but thought about the topic anyway.
This topic speaks volumes of the misaligned expectations and misconceptions of the Ford F150. Just because the ecoboost has twin turbos, or the 5.0 sounds so like a "badass V8" doesn't mean they are performance based vehicles as described by the OP. They are however performance based vehicles as designed...for pulling trailers and hauling things!
These posts only serve to perpetuate the stupidity in the unrealistic expectations of a 5000 pound supercrew 4x4 truck as a performance (sports minded-speed based) vehicle.
