Favourite Functional Mod/Addition
I've had my truck for 2 weeks have already used it for a variety of things, I see it as a huge multi tool.
What is your favourite functional Mod/Addition you have done to truck? Excluding appearance and performance mods. Tonneau cover is the obvious pick, I've read a lot of people say their tailgate lowering assist one of their favourites. What is yours? |
My bedrug XLT mat. I always thought bedrugs were for old people that didn't really use the bed of their truck but I was wrong. I've hauled gravel and firewood and it is so easy to clean out and is far nicer on the knees, plus you can haul valuable things a lot easier without damaging them.

In order of importance, to me.
1. Diode Dynamics SL1 LED headlight bulbs wins, hands down. Transforms night driving ability. 2. Rough Country 2.5" front level. The rake in a RCSB is atrocious. 3. Custom made, heavy walled, true duals with Flowmasters. Holy Cow! What a sound! 4. Nitto tires. Rock solid. 5. Ford racing wheels. Just love the look. |
Not knowing the MY or the option package of your truck makes it a little harder to help you decide. For me it was getting rid of the terribly annoying double honk.
My truck has the tailgate step so it came with the tailgate assist. |

do you live in an area that gets snow? I really want a step like that, I wish my truck had the tailgate step. I’ve read there is a concern with those steps binding up after a few winters of road salt. Was any drilling involved with install?

1. Retrax Pro MX
2. Havoc HS2 Hoop Step Bars 3. Hellwig Rear Sway Bar 4. Falken Wild Peak AT3W 5. Auto Stop Eliminator 6. BedRug Impact Mat |
In order of my preference.
I tow a travel trailer a lot. I love the F-150 Drive Mode Memory Module. When I put the truck in tow/haul mode, it stays there until I take it out of that mode, regardless of how many times I turn the truck off, then restart it. I turned off Auto Stop/Start with Forscan before the AutoStopEliminator came out, and see no reason to revisit it. Installed LED headlight and fog light bulbs. Now, I can see the road at night. Major difference. This one is actually a safety concern, so it probably should be #1. Installed light bar between tailgate and bumper. But, I only wired the reverse lights on it. Now, I can actually see behind me at night. OEM tailgate lowering assist. (My truck came with the tailgate step, but not the assist.) |
