I just bought a 15 lariat crew and was no problem getting a-plan.

You can beat X-plan, but it's not easy in every case. Plus X-plan means you don't have to pay dealer transfer fees and other fees like Doc fees and that are capped, they can't charge you their hidden fuel costs and that. There are a lot of fringe benefits to A and X plan beyond just the individual truck price.

If they don't show you a printout that lists A Plan, X Plan, and D Plan price, don't trust what the dealer is telling you. They are required to do that with "Plan" sales since you are essentially buying the vehicle direct from Ford and the dealer is getting a direct kickback.

Plus, you still get rebates.

I have been buying A-plan for years (which can't be hit with any level of negotiating) and love the ease.
No, it isn't under invoice most of the time. 0.4% under invoice plus $275 is usually over invoice.

I bought mine D plan. I know the A and X plan prices on it. A is very slightly better than D. X is not a bad deal at all for the average person. Yes I'm sure there are some guys on here bragging about "under invoice" and claiming the dealer gave up part of their hold back. This lights up my BS meter, but whatever floats your boat. Some of the prices I've seen claimed on here were below D plan and I think we all know that didn't happen.

New to the forum and wanted some help on a price, since this seems to be the latest place to ask about it. I'm looking at getting my first F-150 and have done my research and shopped around. Here's the deal that was sent to me...we haven't done any negotiating at all yet.

XLT Supercrew, 302A, 4x2, 2.7L, MSRP $42,085...dealer sent me an out the door figure of $36,218. I'd like to get them down $2,000 more if it's possible. They call it "up-front pricing"...does that mean they won't negotiate very much with me?

Never hurts to try, worst they say is no right?
I would try to find another truck like the one your looking at another dealer and try to use one against the other. Looking at the intensives on ford web site I think u should be able to get it for 32k.

FWIW
After I agreed on my trucks price and ordered it my dealership called and said the salesmen over charged me more than $1200 and lowered the price accordingly.
When I went to pick up my truck 4 months 3 week and 4 days later that salesmen was no longer employed there.
