If the ACM is still in place then forscan and the factory harness SHOULD still work correctly without needing to run extra wires. You could still just grab some RCAs and run them back to the sub and use the WPT-1212 harness for power, ground, and remote turn on signal. That'll let you control the sub level at the head unit instead of/in addition to the sub level control included with the Kicker unit.

Note if you have an 18' make sure to check if you have power running to the factory harness in rear. I didn't.
I think you've covered it. I would verify that your truck has the harness first. Just pull the weatherstripping back on the rear drivers side and peek between the side trim and the body. You should see the harness. I'd also make sure you have room behind the seat. Mine is a super crew so I can't say if it fits in a crew cab. I've attached some pics.
This is the harness
Harness again
Sear folded up and locked. No interferance from the sub at all
There it is hiding behind the seat. Pic taken from under the rer seat with it folded up.
Back of rear seat folded down. Plenty of room for this little guy back there.
This is a dumb question but on your picture with the mounting straps, did you drill the straps into the frame or just the padding?
I can confirm 2018 xls are not wired at the fuse box (position 22) if they have not been optioned for subwoofer, I bought one from bannerauto so I know it is genuine but before my local dealer even attempted the install they immediately checked for the fuse under the hood and confirmed there would be no power at the harness
My 2018 xl has both the fuse and the wiring. Very odd some would and wouldn’t. According to the ford brochure, kicker sub is an option for both xls and xlts, so everything should be there since it’s also a dealer install option...or did I get lucky?
You got lucky as I did. For some reason if you have the single CD and Sirius Radio the wiring harness is preinstalled behind the driver C Pillar. My STX has it and I was able to get one of these OEM Kicker woofers on eBay. It was plug and play using Forscan.
Just ordered a Rockville RW8CA, I've seen several reviews on these and the RW10CA and all of them have been positive minus 3 of the 100+ reviews.
Can't wait to get this and install it, I just hope my truck is wired up for the harness to work otherwise I'll have to do it the old fashioned way.
The Remote Input (Turn-On) will accept 5V+ so our 6V signal will be more than enough thankfully.
Has anyone seen this, I have a 40amp fuse in spot 22?? Even on the 2018 owners manual it says it's supposed to be 20amp.
I just did mine with the 10 inch Rockville. Sounds great to me. I'm unsure whether I should run both high level to RCA plugs though since you only have one pair of signal wires. I guess since subs are mono, one RCA is fine?

Yes most subwoofers accept a mono rca input if yours does not just a rca Y adapter to split the signal for both inputs.
