Has anyone ever figured out why the XL rear sub connector doesn't have the low level output wires active?
I have an XL and have installed a subwoofer. My original intent was to get the factory low level thing figured out but in the end decided that simply using a rear speaker as an input along with a cheap converter was the much, much simpler option.
My goal is always try to install things to make them look as OEM as possible. My only gripe is that I only had 1 3/8" shrink wrap to finish off the loom (Had to go with electrical tape ). I also put the gain dial in the trailer brake pocket. It fits perfectly. I'll probably never use it though.
Note: I don't think this was stated in the thread (or at least I didn't see it). The Kicker has a + and - lead for both the right and left channels. The OEM subwoofer plug only has a (1) + and - lead. So I just soldered all the positive leads together and all the negative leads together. Turned out fine.
Overall, the sub is "ok". It's about as much as I can expect from an 8" sub. I most certainly adds to the quality in the factory setup. I'm just used to the 12" sub in my other car so I pretty much maxed out all the settings to get it as loud as possible.
I installed my kicker over the weekend and only attached the left channel inputs to the factory connector and I have the gain maxed out. It's acceptable in that it helps fill out the bass but I was expecting more based on comments here.

I'm not using a kicker setup, but I found on my amp that only using one channel input gave me about 1/2 the output I wanted. wiring the factory connector to both inputs helped a lot.

Motocraft WPT-1212
I took the Driver Side REAR Pillar cover off to plug in the WPT-1212 and the female connector to accept it IS NOT THERE? Now I am totally confused as to what to do. I am simply trying to remove the Sony Sub and install a powered sub like everyone else.
I looked at this gentleman's picture and you can clearly see the connector in grey seated on the white cable fastener. I have the white cable fastener but there is no grey female connector attached to it for me to plug the WPT-1212 into. The little black plug to the right in the pic is there on my truck. I am attaching the picture from the other gentleman to show that I am familiar exactly what I am looking for and where it is supposed to be. TIPS?? Grey connector missing.
