I got a Hideaway and a WPT-1212 today. Wired up the pigtail to the Kicker harness, plugged the WPT-1212 into the harness next to the rear driver seatbelt, set the aux subwoofer setting with FORscan, and the blue light came on! The manual says that means that things are working normally.

Except there's no signal. I tried all kinds of fiddling with the ***** and the remote **** and no dice. I wired the purple to the left+right positives and the green to the left+right negatives on the amp.

I assume that since it correctly turns on/off when interacting with the truck and that the blue light comes on that I've at least set the v+, v-, and remote up correctly. I double and triple-checked the signal wiring and I'm pretty damn sure it's right.

Any ideas here? I suspect it's possibly a programming issue since I just swapped the stock 4.2" radio for a 8" Sync 2 display+APIM (all of which seems to be working perfectly). I feel like I could probably just tap into the doors but that doesn't sound very appealing to me.

Note: #87 was my reference for connecting the WPT-1212 to the Kicker harness. It's worth mentioning that I have an XLT 300A so is should have the signal wiring in the C pillar harness? There is a green and purple wire in there.

Have you tried adjusting the settings on the Kicker? I suggest looking at my settings in post 529. You can also try setting the sub woofer option using the AsBuilt settings in Forscan. The Forscan settings spreadsheet has the recommended changes. I have a Lariat, so I don't know if your wiring is different than one I have. The only way to really know is to check the signals coming out of your harness.

It sounds like you're going to be doing what we XL owners needed to do and tap into the door speaker(s) for sound. If/when you do, I tried it both ways and much prefer it WITH a low level converter.

yeah I figure that since I had the 4.2" radio stock, they used the same harness as the XL. I'm actually at the store getting more wire and taps. So low level sounds better than the speaker level signal? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to audio/video stuff.

Might have to ask this in the focscan section but I'll try here first. I've been playing with my sub install for almost a week now... trying to get the sound just right. today i decided to change a the option in forscan ACM from ...
6- Not configured or Error
to
7 speaker super crew with kicker sub
after much listening i almost thought the 6-not configured or error setting sounded better
when i try to set it back the not configured option wasn't even there as an option anymore ? that setting vanished
Any idea how i can get it back?

Yes, a low level input sounds much better. I originally just tapped a speaker wire and used that. It sounded just ok, certainly better than no sub at all. But with the low level converter it not only sounds better but it's MUCH easier to dial in the sound the way you want it and there is no "thump" sound when the amp switches on or off which you will have iotherwise.

Dont be be intimidated by the converter install. It's a cheap devise with only a couple wires to hook up. Basically you run the speaker wire to the converter then the converter wires to the amp. Clean and simple.

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but I just started going down the road of adding more bass to this system.

Is it the consensus that getting the kicker setup for $1250 is the way to go?

I lease and I was hoping to get an amp and sub, stick the sub under the rear seats and then remove the setup when I turn in the lease.

Is my original thought not the right way to go here?
