Factory sub
Well, I have my NVX QBUS8v2 hooked up and enabled the sub option in FORScan but for some reason I am not getting any signal. I can hook the sub up to an alternative signal and it plays fine, so I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the factory signal. If anyone has any ideas as to why this is or what I could try I'd very very grateful to hear from you, in the mean time though I am going to dig into this some more and see if I can figure it out.
It seems to me that it depends on how you set the options in Forscan. There are two settings that are adjustable.
Setting 1.
- No auxiliary speaker
- Auxiliary Subwoofer (current setting)
- Auxiliary Speaker
Setting 2
- Supercab 6 speaker with kicker audio
- Crew cab 6 speaker with kicker audio
- Supercab 7 speaker with kicker audio
- Crew cab 7 speaker with kicker audio (current setting)
- Not configured
Setting 1 I have always left at "Auxiliary subwoofer" but for the second option, it sounds like if you choose "Not configured" then the outputs are speaker level. If you choose "7 speaker with kicker audio" then I think they change to low level. I have left my crossover turned all the way up, and it seems to play well into the higher frequencies when set to "not configured". When I choose "7 speaker with kicker audio" it sounds perfect so I assume its prefiltered out of the head unit. I think I will keep it there. I'm not sure what the effect of changing setting 1 would be, but I assume speaker level outputs again.

I'm curious what the vss system does to the factory speakers to make them "better". You guys think we could do it ourselves for less? Also where is everyone picking up the kicker sub and amp that is "plug n play" with the harness?
Thanks!
Thanks!
they are using an existing harness and hooking up the powered sub of your choice. A few changes with forscan and it thinks you have a factory sub. Kicker hideaway seems to be most popular. any powered sub should work as long as you don't melt the power feed.
