Factory sub
Well, I have my NVX QBUS8v2 hooked up and enabled the sub option in FORScan but for some reason I am not getting any signal. I can hook the sub up to an alternative signal and it plays fine, so I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the factory signal. If anyone has any ideas as to why this is or what I could try I'd very very grateful to hear from you, in the mean time though I am going to dig into this some more and see if I can figure it out.
I am installing a kicker hideaway in my XLT with standard audio. I purchased wire harness WPT-1212 from Amazon which I've confirmed plugs right into the Ford chassis harness for the available sub option. See the catalog below. The WPT-1212 was about $30 but should make this plug and play I believe.

Did you use Forscan to enable the sub option?
No, I needed to modify my ELM327. I got that done last night, and was having issues with Forscan. I could see the ACM module and options, but I couldn't write changes. I kept getting "service procedure has been interrupted". I emailed Forscan team, they said it sounds like a hardware issue. The command loop was taking 200ms and should be down around 30ms. So I'll try a different computer and then a new dongle if needed.

Well I was able to get my sub working by enabling the option in Forscan. I didn't change anything about my computer/adapter set up, I just didn't get the same error that I was getting before. Anyway, after I enabled the option, the kicker hideaway turned on and is now working great. One note, the hideaway has a setting where it can detect the audio signal and use that to turn on instead of the remote line. Although I did connect the remote line, the sub doesn't seem to work with this option. I suspect it is because the voltage is only 6V as lucas8888 had measure (I haven't confirmed). In any case, I'll just use the high level monitoring to turn the sub on. It was really nice that this could be completely plug and play. I didn't have to fish any wires or splice anything on the factory harness. I've attached pictures of the WPT-1212 that I recieved to couple to my Hideaways harness. I also have a picture of the jumper harness after I soldered all the connections. Gray connection to chassis harness, black to hideaway subwoofer.
I was browsing through some of the Forscan options. Under the ACM, you can obviously enable the subwoofer, but there is also an option to set the speaker configuration. Does anyone know what this does, or how it changes the sound? If I remember correctly, there were 5 options
- Supercab, 6 speaker
- Crewcab, 6 speaker
- Supercab, 7 speaker
- Crewcab, 7 speaker
- Not configured
I just left mine as not configured, but I'm curious what the implications of the others are. I have a crew cab with 7 speakers, fwiw.
