Well I finally got tired of the just okay performance from my Rockford PS-8. I tried all the Forscan settings and couldn't find any I was happy with while using the factory sub wiring for an input. I pulled both rear pillars and tapped off the factory rear speaker wires. It made a huge difference! The PS-8 has low and high level inputs and I was originally using the low level coming from the factory sub harness. I did play but it was always a little low for my tastes. Connected to the rear speaker wires gave me more volume than I needed. I was able to turn the gain from all the way up to about half way.

Depending on the sensitivity of your amps input your results may vary but I found this to be a great sounding solution with the Rockford PS-8. It only took about 20 min to pull the pillars out just enough to get to the factory rear speaker wires. I'm still using the kicker Forscan setting for the factory speakers as well.

Has as anyone with an XL gotten it to work? I bought the Kicker Hideaway (surprised how heavy it is) and the wpt1212 harness. I've soldered everything and made a harness to attach to the factory sub harness. Used only the left + and - on the kicker harness.

Dealer is turning on the sub tomorrow for me for free, but after seeing a few people with the XL not getting it to work, I'm curious if anyone HAS gotten it to work.

I have a 2017 screw with the STX and FX4 packages. Upgraded sync 3 with 8" screen, non-Sony with 6 speakers. Sub harness is there.

fyi for anyone trying, my XL wouldn't work. Power, ground, and remote worked, but no sound. Power and ground actually worked without the dealer turning anything on. I just tapped in to the factory wires in the B pillar.

At first I was disappointed by the Hideaway, but with proper adjustment I'm pleased. Kids didn't like the vibrating back seat, so I ran the remote to the front.

Well, that makes sense why the amp on the oem kicker sub would get warm but no sound in my XL. I ordered the sound ordnance powered sub and am waiting for it to come in...still peeks my interest in trying to get going going through the factory harness vs running a traditional amp kit.

So the wires are there, somebody just has to find out where the disconnect is located. Most people take the easy way out and just tap into the rear door speaker wires.

That's the game plan. How exactly does that work when using the subs harness with the wpt1212? Do you just run the speaker wires from the sub side to rear doors and do nothing with the speaker wires on the wpt1212 side?

That's exactly what I did. Power and ground from the factory sub harness using the wpt1212. I hooked up the remote wire also, but it doesn't work. Mine just senses signal from the rear doors and turns on then.

From the Kicker Hideaway unit, I wired the left and right speaker inputs in the B pillar to the factory rear speakers.

I capped off the speaker connections on the wpt1212, but the factory sub harness is equipped with the proper colored speaker wires, there's just no signal there.

FYI, I have the 2.7 ecoboost. Hooking up this was, it does not turn off when the auto stop engages.

Thanks for that. I'll try to figure it out and report back when I install my amp.

Here's a crazy question. How does the system sound/function if I "enable" the sub without actually installing one? The reason I ask is that I am in for service and could possibly have them enable it while it's there but it might be a few weeks before I get the sub/amp setup ordered and installed.

Cheers,
Doug

All it does is turn on the amp enable wire. The power is already hot. I turned mine on before installing and had no issues
