Factory sub
Curious Question, for the oem style Kicker Substage Only! If you buy this, the only connection needed, is to the oem sub connector?
Then a trip to the dealer, to Enable the sub connector. Unless you have Forscan, and can Enable the connector yourself.
I had the Substage, in my 12 and had to run Power to engine, Ground to p.s. kickpanel. Then tap front speaker wires, for music signal.
None, of what had to be done on the previous Gens., should have to be done on the new body style. As, Im led to believe you just plug the Kicker Substage into the oem Sub Connector, behind the rear pillar and your done in the 15s and 16s?

One, Kicker Retail VSS OEM System.

Hooks up like the Substage did in the previous gen (wire tap & battery run), doesn't use the factory sub harness.
This one is not compatible with AutoStartStop (according to Kicker), but doesn't require being turned on via Sub connector.
Two, the OEM only harness connected.

Which connects via the factory sub harness, but requires IDS/Forscan turning it on.
It's my understanding that there are 2 different Kicker OEM style subs for this truck.

I have been using the SF150SC15-VSS-SubStage for almost a year with the Auto Stop/Start on the 2.7L with no issues of it cutting out. Your experience may vary.
......sheet. I hope I can make the substage work fine with my auto start stop. Can I just splice the wires into the factory sub connector so I do not have to run the wires the whole was and slice into wires under the kickpanel?

Ok, Thank You, for the explanation.
I was wondering if theyre were 2 versions! Dumb they did it this way, but maybe some lower trims XL's dont have the sub connector, like higher trims may have!
Or you can buy the WPT 1212 harness? On amazon, it plugs into oem sub connector, and has the same wires coming off of it to use.
Yeah I ordered the harness. I actually bought the sub off of a member here not knowing there were 2 different models. You think if I splice mine into the harness and plug it in it should work?
Then have the sub connector enabled, via dealer or forscan. Youd just have to shorten your Kicker harness. Or zip tie it, and squeeze it behind the plastic pillar.
Sweet that's exactly what I wanted to hear! Just one last question, any idea which speaker wire is + and -? One is green and one is brown. Probably a dumb question but I don't want to blow anything.
For the kicker harness? Should state in the manual, if your has one being its used?.
I could look in the manual for the one from my 12, doubt they changed colors, or polarity. But, Im not positive either...
