Hmmm...It appears that 1964 vehicles being driven to cruise-ins and otherwise in daily service today are perfectly capable. I see no reason why the Al F-150s won't also be roadworthy in 50 years. It's just a matter of adequate maintenance.

This is true, aluminum also gets brittle over time when not protected from the elements.
No offense, but does anyone here plan to keep their F-150 soaked down with salt water 24/7?

Because that is what these people do with their unpainted aluminum vehicles.

I doubt that the aluminum bodies will ever look like this.

The people that live here in the salt belt do....& salt is old news, they are on to magnesium chloride. Steel or aluminum they both will rot. I have the aluminum rims to prove it.

My 13 has a factory liner in it. Sure it looks the same as Line-X but I have no clue what kind it is. I also can't get a answer to if it Carey's a lifetime warranty as Line-X does.

Dad bought an aluminum boat when he was 42 y/o. We used it in fresh and salt water (unpainted) all over the PNW. When dad died at 87 y/o I gave the boat to a neighbor. That was 8 years ago and the boat is still in service.... some dents & lots of scratches, no cracks no leaks.

I'm thinkin' aluminum F150s will do fine..... aluminum Shelby Cobra has done ok

That's an awesome product. In previous F-150s I used similar fitted rubber bed mats, but they were flat, i.e. didn't wrap up the sides as the WeatherTech (WT) product does. So, when I wanted to do my annual detail of the box, it was necessary to remove the mat to enable hosing the debris from under it. With the WT mat, I can hose the mat off with a gentle stream that doesn't slop up/over the sides, then detail it with some protectant. The bed surface under the WF mat remained clean over time while the flat mats allowed debris to accumulate under them. BTW, I also cover my box with a PTM SnugTop hard tonneau.

That's the mat I was considering when I mentioned the alternative... though at ~ half the price of the spray in... not sure which route is really better.

Agreed. Problem for me is that I lease. My last truck I bought off lot and paid $400 to have mine done, now I am turning in April. I am out that money. If buy this I could get some return. Also when I order the 2015 I could just get the spray in and not pay full price. The later is probably the most wise. Ugh.

I opted to get the factory spray in, because I intend to lease the 2015 and the net cost of the factory spray in (amortized over a lease) will be less than having it done by a third party (and I don't have to worry about damage done to the bed when turning in the truck vs no bed liner).
