I had the "factory" installed liner on my Dodge, it was just like line-x, however at that time dodge built the truck and farmed it out to someone to have the liner sprayed and the sport hood installed, it took for ever for the truck to get here. Not sure if its like that now, but the bed liner was a good quality.

After reading this thread I have the same question as posed above-which is the best, aftermkt or factory liner? There are a few thoughts on the various bedliners here: www.magnetpaints.com or go straight to www.monstaliner.com They sell the Monstaliner. UV degradation seems to be a common issue with many liner materials.

My last few new trucks I have opted for a heavy duty rubber mat with a factory tailgate cover purchased as a part and installed when new. I do use my bed (not for gravel!) and current truck is going on 6 years and the bed is still nice shape.
What spray material does the factory use?

I think the spray-in supplier is Ground Effects Ltd. Their website says: "Today we operate dedicated facilities for Chrysler's Ram truck (Warren, MI) and the Ford F-150 (Dearborn, MI and Kansas City, MO),"

Ground Effects also do the Chevy spray-in liners at their Wentzville location. I fairly sure they're owned by Line-X.

In my case I'm deciding if I want to save the money from a new truck order and do my new bed myself. I have the skill set & the tools but as I have zero idea if I can buy a material that meets or exceeds what Line-X uses, I asked the question. Line-X doesn't get an evaluation in my link above as you cannot buy it for DIY jobs.
Any pertinent thoughts? Like UV resistance,etc., of Line-X material? Thanks!

No issues with the factory spray in liner. Looks like it belongs there. My choice would be to have the factory do it. I then put a soft rubber liner over the top to keep stuff from sliding around.
